No Dr. can dx my condition. Slight wind & my head starts to feel agitation inside & then severe pressure
as if skull can't accomadate the insides. Feels like a
tremor w/ locked ears getting fuller ea. minute. Attack
can ocurr while sleeping too. Pressure becomes intense
& finally ears spasm & canals are popping wet. Xanax
seems to stop spasms but I've been suffering w/ this
for yrs. Sleep deprived & sometimes rx doesn't work.
MRI & EEG show nothing of help. Elevators & car travel
can also trigger. No Vestibular problems. Just feels
like terrible inflammation & head edema, then a crisis
feeling. Does anyone know what this might be? Many Dr.
tests. Appreciate any suggestions or just to hear from
another that has this problem.

Hi Christina, Thanks for response. Thought I was alone
w/ this condition. Still might be. I had EMG neck-
nerve test. C5 is slight pinched but that operates the
arm, hand, shoulder. What nerve are you talking about?
I know if you have stabbing pain in head, that's not
the neck. Crainial-5 (cn5) is generally the problem &
it causes temple, head, ear area to stab. Trigeminal-
Neuralgia. I have this except I get long throbbing &
fluid popping from ears when pressure finally releases.
Do you have this too? What meds help you?

hello i am not on any meds i only went to a chiro and he told me it was whiplash so are you saying that my neck is not causing my stabing pains i only get them in one spot it is usually on the left side. well if you want to view my post on this board it is under cstiffey may be it can help you. but i dont know what that nuragligia you are talking about. these pains only last a couple of seconds. they are like ice pick head aches. well any way hope things get better for you . i am not sure witch nerves are pinced because i only went to a chiro.

i looked up what you were talking about and it only happens in old people i am only 24. and the chiro said the pains are consisitant with pinched nerves or whiplash. but i dont know.

Christina, from what you described you have great
confidence in your Chiro. A whiplash/pinch nerve can
cause headaches. Not `stabbing'. @ 45 `not old', my
mis-diagnosis led to 10 yrs of worsening pain & 4 major
surgeries. TN can ocurr in children also & always mis-
diagnosed so they suffer. Yes, your Chiro is wrong. TN
isn't attached to neck nerves. It means`painful spasm'
mostly over-looked, mostly one sided, patient always says `stabbing like ice-pick pain'. And is mostly
felt in the temple to upper head & above ear when bad.
Seek a headache neuro. later on or talk to family dr.
Yes, whiplash can cause TN if severe. Manipulation won't fix it though. Gd. luck.

Hi
Some of what you describe sounds like congestion from allergy or hay fever. For that pressure and fullness Benedryl helps. Since I have been taking Amitriptyline I have not had that fullness/pressure feeling. I take it for other reasons but this is a perk http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif When my ear pressure is off and/or with allergy, my hearing cuts out (one side) and when I swallow hear that squishy sound. Sometimes I'll gargle with warm salt water to rid post nasal drip etc. Did your ENT test your ear pressure?

Hi Gemi, don't know if this was to me, but I was tested
multiple times & tried many Rx allergy meds. Meds made
it worse & extremely tighter. No allergies either. What
is pressure test called? I've had many: ENG, ABR, Hear,
several vestibulars. Never dizzy. I need something
that opens the dam, not dry the lake. I have sporadic
trigeminal neuralgia that causes nerves to spasm. My
problem is day/night & only relaxants help. It feels
like vessel-tremors. Thanks for your msg. I welcome any
input & yours is most appreciated. Luck to us all!

Murphy,
You and I have similar symptoms---
Three years ago, I was on a plane coming home from Europe. You know how your ears pop on the plane and you get that stuffy feeling in your ears---well my ears have never unpopped. I have had EXTREME pressure in my head that feels like my head is in a vice from the inside out. I have had this problem for 3 yrs. and have been to many doctors and have had numerous tests done. All with no results. This has affected my vision--it feels as though I am lookin through a heat wave--very strange and it is like this 24/7. My body feels tight all over and at times I get an internal heat where I am burning up inside. My main problem is that my ears are clogged and need to pop. Also the extreme pressure in my head. I am 27 and have had this problem for 3 yrs. It has put my life on hold--I am unable to work and can't even drive because of how I see and how uncomfortable I feel with constant pressure in my head and body.----
Any suggestions or does any of this sound similar? I think it is relevant to mention that I have never had any health problems in the past and was fine before leaving Europe.
