Im hoping to find some answers, I almost always go to bed with a headache, and wake up with one, not to mention the stiff neck shoulder pain, and foggy feeling, but lately I have also noticed my left eye twitching... the foggy feeling is almost like a drug induced feeling, that I can not shake, I sleep a good 8-9 hours a night, but never feel rested...at work I am having a hard time concentrating...I am not on any meds, nor have I been to a dr...any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks!
Pamela

i would go to a chiro it sounds like you may have pinced nerves i had those same symptoms and more it was do to whiplash and pinched nerves. i have never been in a car wreck either i donot know how i go t it but i did. so maybe you might want to check into that. it does not sound like anything real serious. sometimes the simplest things can cause all kinds of problemes. it scarry too how we always think the worst.

thanks for replying, I have thought about doing that, but one time years ago, I had a chiropractor mess me up where I was in pain for a long time...I know there are good ones out there...but just scared to try another one...thinking, maybe just a massage therapist?
I think I can handle that, but something about the thought about bone popping scares me, lol...
thanks again,

Eyelid twitching can be brought on by fatigue. Headaches awake and asleep could be from muscle tension. When I have muscle tension (the kind that can lead to painful spasm, the tension before spasm) I apply moist heat first (to loosen the muscles). I don't stretch when in spasm because it makes the spasm pain worse. When that happens I have to reallywork that heat in. Pulse power in the shower in the affected muscle group.

Micro arousals may be happening while you sleep. They are so brief you would not remember waking up. You may be getting 8 hours sleep (or so you think) but does not mean your getting the restorative sleep the body needs to function. You may be suffering from sleep deprivation. That can cause the symptoms you describe. The root cause could be stress.

One way to tell is to record your sleeping by cam corder. How else would one know? Unless your sheets are all knotted up and pillows strewn or a spouse telling you you snore :) This way you could see what's happening there. It's not easy to detect sleep problems accept when one suffers lack of. Pulling an all nighter, double shifts or going without rest can bring that on. That is in essence what's happening to someone with disturbed sleep. Stress can upset the body. Also, make sure you have a comfortable bed, pillow etc. That can make a difference.

I would bet it is allergies. My eyes twitch and my inner ear flutters when I am allergic to something. I also get horrible brain fog. Almost like I am lightly drugged. Can't think straight and feel groggy. I suggest you see an allergist. I hope you feel better.

Hi Pam, Do you snore in your sleep? Your symptoms sound alot like sleep apnea. It's worth ruling out especially if you snore. Take care

i dont know if this was mentioned before, but you probably suffer from a great deal of stress in your life. You might want to consult a therapist and/or practice some relaxation techniques.

 Hi Pamela,

I suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. The symptoms you are mentioning sound very familiar - especiall the brain fog, that is a classic symptom of both diseases. The headaches are another sign, as well as stiff neck and shoulder pain. The unrefreshed sleep is another hallmark symptom of these diseases. Difficulty concentrating is another symptom. Sounds to me like you may be getting one or both of these diseases. That is exactly how mine started out and progressivly got worse. It took a long time before it really got a hold on me. You can do a web search on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), or it is also called Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS). Also look at fibromyalgia and compare what you have to these symptoms they talk about. Your doctor may tell you it is all in your head - don't listen to that! They tell everyone that and give you a prescription for antidepressants, or say you are depressed. They might do a series of tests, which will all come back normal. It does not mean you do not have these diseases. I've had every test under the sun. When all the tests come back normal, the doctor's defer to it as depression. It took many doctor's before I got a diagnosis - it took 8 months before they finally told me I had these diseases. I went to an endocrinologist and he told me. Then I went to Loma Linda University and they did tests and another doctor told me I have CFS. My neurologist told me I have the fibromyalgia. Some people believe these two disease are one in the same. It is still under investigation. For the pain in your neck and shoulder you may want to see a rhumetologist for the pain. Hope this helps. I don't mean to frighten you, but I really went through it before finally someone told me I had something really wrong with me. As I said, no test showed it. They test you to rule out other diseases. Then when they don't find anything there, they tell you you have CFS. Please do some research on this and see if it matches what you have.
Best wishes,
Gingerly
