I was recently diagnosed with oral lichen planus. For the past eight months my mouth, gums and tongue have been very painful. They ache and burn. My gums have white spots which the dermatologist called white plaques and when they peel off it leaves a raw spot that is very painful and bleeds. I have switched toothpaste several times and finally found that biotene is the most tolerable. I can't eat spicy, acidic, or hard crusty foods because they cause more pain. I have been on Nystatin and Lidex ointment orabase for about a week and it is helping a little bit. Has anyone had any experience with this? If so, what did you do for it? Also, do you know how long it takes for the Lidex ointment to take full effect? My dr. said it would take probably a month for the Lidex to really help. I would appreciate any advice.
