I bought some CoQ10 gel caps, hoping they'll help reduce my gum pockets. Should I take them orally, or cut them open and apply them right to my gums?

Also, has anyone had any experience with CoQ10 helping their gums?

I have never heard of this. I know there is a thing called Arestin that the hygentist placing down into the pocket. It's in powder form she she has to do it. Never heard of the stuff you are taking about. I wouldn't do anything with out talking to my dentist or hygentist.

For what it is worth I recently read in the news that CoQ10 does not do what it is said to do. I cannot quote the study but try googling the news and see if you find anything.

I've never heard of that product either. Be aware that many products out there are all about marketing. Sometimes you can't even trust their clinical study unless it's done independently. Arestin and another product which I can't think of the name right now are the only two that will help with reducing pockets. They are professionally placed by the hygienist or dentist. They are antibiotic placed under the gum or in the pockets to reduce inflammation. If you are buying something over the counter, there is nothing out there that I know of that will help reduce pockets. Deep pockets are gum disease and need professionally treated.

Don't waste your money!! I took COQ10 for 5-6 months with no real improvement to my gums. I think it is a scam also it is not cheap they are expensive. My personal opinion take lots of Vitamin C and Calcium with D vitamins. Go to a professional best advice and always always always use your FLOSS I have learned that the hard way!!

there is a product called gengigel,its formulation is specifically created in order to resemble that of thehyaluronan found in normal gingival tissue.It is made by oraldent,there is also a liquid ,hope this info helps.
