hi,

my grandmother is taking celebrex for arthritis and has had several strokes this past fall. I'm not sure if she knows what is going on in the news. do the pharm companies send out letters to patients to keep them informed about new developments? do pharmacies or doctors call the patient to let them know? would it be reasonable to say that her doc is well-informed about the happenings and would call her about it since theoretically he knew she was on the drug when the strokes happened? the new NCI study came out after her strokes, so the doctor would have to know to think to put 2 and 2 together. do you think that it's all being taken care of?

thanks!

Just to make sure that she is getting the best care possible regarding this med, I would have her make an appt with the Rxing doc and then go with her to the appt so you will be able to voice your concerns to her doc directly.Given her past history, she definitely needs to be taken off this drug asap or she could risk yet another stroke or some sort of cardiac episode. She sounds like she would be considered a high risk patient and really needs to be on something else for her pain.unfortunetly, most docs these days are just way too busy to give each individual patient the proper attention they deserve. So it is up to the patient and family of patients, to voice any concerns about anything to do with their healthcare.I would call today to get her in as soon as possible.Good luck,Marcia
