I noticed last night that I have multiple bruises all over both my upper legs. They're from my hip to my knee. I've been trying to think if I bumped against something that might cause these, but then again, if I did it probably wouldn't be on the inner and outer parts of my legs. Is there some kind of deficiency that could cause these?

my Gran had the same problem and my aunt....... multiple bruises and turned out to be penitious anemia, which means your body doesn't absorb vitamin B12 as well as it should and can leave you feeling tired. Its not a big issue just means you have to visit your doc about every 6 weeks for a quick B12 injection. Just a thought of what it could be anyway. :)

You may be anemic. That means that there isn't enough iron in your blood and it causes bruises. You may want to go to the doctor to check for an iron-deficiency. This happens often with vegetarians.

Thanks to both of you for your responses. I was thinking that might be it, too. I got a little scared when I saw them because I've never had so many bruises like that. Luckily, I have a doctor's appointment in about 2 weeks so I can talk to her about the B12 shots if that's what I need and to see if I'm iron deficient.

when i get bunches of bruises on my legs.....and they are nasty looking things!!...and have no clue how i got them...i take iron....that fixes the problem for awhile. I just had a physical done last month..so I know everything is fine. my legs started bruising again last week...my hubby noticed all the huge black and blue bruises on my legs..so i know its time to take iron again.

Could also be a lack of Vitamin C - MY Grandmother also had huge bruises all over and that's what it ended up being.

I must not get enough iron or vitamin c in my diet. I'm trying to restructure the way I eat so I should probably do it sooner rather than later. :) The bruises seem to be fading away and I haven't noticed anymore anywhere else.
