Hello to you all, I am new to this board and need some advice.
My 24 month old daughter got sick 3 weeks ago with high fever (101F and up).
It went away after 3 days or so, but then it showed up a couple days later again and she was burning up.
We took her to the doctor and they gave her something for her ear and said that they could not find anything else.
This morning, I woke her up to take her to daycare and she was burning again (103.4F).
I dont think that it is normal to have fever this often in a short period of time.
If any of you can give me some advice or have been true the same thing, let me please know because I am worried.

Thanks Gina

Did the doctor do any blood work? There is a viral infection going around that my 5 year old had recently and the only symptom he had was a high fever. It seemed to last for a few weeks. He would get a fever on and off. But he really didn't seem sick unless he was running a fever. I would see if they could do blood work. Good luck!

Don't worry, the same thing happened to my 2 year old. Her temp was 103 too, so I panicked and took her to the emergency room. They didn't find any infections like throat or sinuses, and they even catherized her (to get urine, bad site) to see if she had a urinary tract infection. It's quite normal for little one's to get fevers because their immune systems are very new and much weaker since they haven't fought off many viruses and stuff. Just make sure you give her some tylenol and fluids. THis is absolutlely normal believe me, even the doctor told me that it's a good thing cause her body's defense will become stronger.

Last summer ds had an ear infection and we usually are given a different/stronger antibiotic and this time we were given something else. That night his fever went up to 103 w/tylenol. I was scared to death. Called ask a nurse and was told I had only been giving ds half the dose of tylenol he could have. We were up all night and most of the next day monitoring his fever and finally the drugs kicked in and seemed to take care of things.

small children frequently run high fevers. My 2 year old has gotten them as high as 105, and we took her to the er for that (she had bronchitis). If your child continues to run fevers and they keep coming and going, you might ask the doc to test for mono. My daughter got several ear infections and never seemed to get better for very long, and the doctor finally tested her and she had mono. She had been sick on and off for a couple of months, and had run quite a few fevers. Vitamin c, lots of sleep, and medication to increase her appetite helped her alot, and she recovered about a month after diagnosis. It doesnt hurt to check.
