Hello,
I recently had an infection to my finger due to pulling on a hangnail. The infection has since cleared up after using oral antibiotics and cream antibiotics. The skin around my nail is seperating from my nail and it is turning white and yellow where the infection was. Is this a cause for concern?

Whenever there is a cut, tear or break in the seal surrounding the nail unit, it is an open invitation to a fungal infection. If the area is turning yellow, it could be a sign of a fungal infection. I would advise applying Tea Tree oil to the area twice a day to keep it dry and to prevent the possibility of further infection by fungal spores or bacterium.
