I have a tendency to scar pretty badly. Who ever said only dark skinned people get keloids (raised, thick scars) is WRONG! I've had a few moles removed for biopsy and ended up with some ugly ones, despite being extra careful not to let them scab and to keep them moist.

Any suggestions on how to diminish their appearance?

The cosmetic scar reducing products seem to work very well, there is no cure.

First of all, are you sure they're real keloids, or hypertrophic scars?? The difference is very subtle - keloids don't respond well to treatment, and hypertrophic scars do.

I'm a fair-skinned white person who gets hypertrophic scars (for years I thought they were keloids, and I'm not pure white, anyway). However, I've gotten rid of them with cortisone shots (from a dermatologist), and those scar-reducing patches (Band-Aid makes very good ones) with silicone. The creams for minimizing scars have done very little for me. If you try the scar patches or the cortisone, you may see a dramatic improvement (the patches take several weeks to work). If you do, then you don't have true keloids.
