I had some incipent decay on my teeth one mesial and one distal. Ever since I had it done if i floss there my floss gets caught on something and shreads. It doesn't hurt when I pull the floss up but It sure hurts when I pull it down. Ive got to the point where i don't even floss in that area anymore because I can't handle the pain. Ever since this has been happening I have thought "IT HAS GOT TO BE AN OVERHANG". It's got so bad that I can't eat anything hard of that side of my mouth and my teeth are now becoming sensitive to heat and cold. I'm graduating from dental assisting school in february so I know a little bit about stuff and what might be going on. Ive been to my dentist twice now and he
"can't figure out what it is". I have suggested that it might be a overhang but they say its not. And all he has done is shaved down some of my tooth structure which isn't that great of a thing. ANY ADVICE on what I should do?? I think i'm going to talk to my teacher on WED to see what she thinks also.

It sounds like an overhang to me. It's so easy to tell. If you get floss hung or stuck between your teeth after a new filling was placed then it's most likely an overhang. Some dentists will deny it's an overhang and it's sad. Bondings are notorious for overhangs. I hope you get it resolve soon.

Thank you!! I hope I can get it fixed soon too!! It has really been bugging me so i'm going to talk to my teacher and then try and make another appointment with my dentist and hopefully get it resolved. Any other advice would help too.
