Hi all,
I posted about a month or 2 back, about going off the pill because of side affects, and I did it at the end of November. I've lost 6-7 lbs since then, without doing ANYTHING differently, so I'm convinced it must've been water weight or some other side affect of the pill. Anyways, my fiance threatened to stop having sex with me if I went off (before the fact), and I didn't know how serious he was about it until I actually did go off... Now the lack of sex is getting to me (I never really realized what an important part of a relationship it plays... Not that it's everything, but I sure feel more emotionally connected to him when we're active), and I'm going back on the pill. I'm really scared about gaining that weight back (even though it's not a whole lot, I still DO NOT want to gain it back), so my question is, does anybody know of a pill with a REALLY low risk of side affects? Or what pills have you guys found are very good with not having weight gain as a side affect?
Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Most forms of birth control that i know of have side effects & a lot of people do gain weight with them! I use the ortho evra patch & love it! I hope i never have to change, i've been on it for over a year and a half & have never had problems with it. The first few months I started I do remember gaining some weight....but i would just feel bloated mostly, it'd just be a couple pounds or so, and as soon as i started it'd go away. I felt like this about two weeks out of the month, then after those first few months i was fine! Now, i hardly get bloated at all even when it's time for my period! The best thing to do is just tlak to your doctor or do some research yourself & find something you think might be right for you! Everyone's body is different so what works for someone else might not work for you, but best of luck!! :D

Hi. I hated taking the pill! I never could remember to take them everyday! They do cause you to gain weight. I just hated them! I tried the patch, it was ok except it really irritated the skin underneath. It itched all the time. Then I tried the Nuvaring. It is really cool. Athough, I really didn't like insertion process. Finally I decided on an IUD (not copper though). It has been wonderful. Takes about 10 min. for dr. to insert. A little discomfort but nothing you can't handle. Not much different that getting a pap smear. My periods have stopped (which is normal!) and I don't have to worry about birth control for the next 5 years! That's how long they last! They are expensive but definitely worth it! Check your insurance, they may pay for it. It did mine! Good luck!

Thanks for the replies! I would try an IDU, except that neither of us want to wait 5 years for a baby.... We are most likely going to start trying in about a year and a half, so basically the only thing I can use for birth control is the pill, patch, or nuva ring (which I'm not too eager to try out). So I guess for now, I will just try another pill (I'm thinking maybe Ortho TriCyclen Lo?), until I come up with something else.

OTC Lo made me gain weight and gave me a bunch of other side effects. Alesse is another one that made me gain a bunch of weight

Yasmin and Levlite are supposed to prevent weight gain. Basically anything with a low dose of estrogen shouldn't cause any weight gain. I've been on Mircette (Kariva) and haven't gained any weight and I've had minimal side effects. So far, it's my favorite.
