This is the first time I have posted anything so I hope I'm doing it right! :) I am 22 and have been taking Ovcon 35 for almost 6 months and other forms of birth control for about four years (tricyclic pills, the ring, the patch, various low dose pills). I tried skipping my period last month for the first time ever because my boyfriend and I went on a trip. I had no break through bleeding or other problems skipping that period but the period that I was supposed to have last week started two days late and only lasted a few hours (basically just spotting). This worries me since I have been pretty regular for four years. I am a few days into a new pack but worry that if I am pregnant I should stop taking it. I saw several questions about too much bleeding from skipping periods but none on not enough. Is that normal just from the change in hormones or should I take a pregnancy test? Thanks for any advice!

Just guessing since this has never really happened to me, I would think that maybe your body is just trying to figure out what is going on since you tried missing a period. The best thing to do would probably take an ept pregnancy test, or call/see your gyno and ask them! Best of luck tho!

When you skip your period it is giving your body an extra week of hormones that it is not used to. Most likely what happens is that the next period is different than your normal period. Some women will have shorter periods, some will have longer. I skipped my period also and it didnt work but the following month my period was much different than normal, it started on thursday rather than tuesday and was shorter. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Skipping periods doesn't make the pill less effective so I wouldn't worry too much about pregnancy
