Hey, I'm sure most of you here have accidentaly bitten the inside of your cheek at one time or another. I was just wondering if you've ever experienced anything like this or if I should get it checked out by my dentist...

About a week ago I chomped the inside of my cheek really hard & it hurt pretty bad. Well, I was looking in the mirror yesterday & noticed that beside the bite-mark is a tiny pinpoint-sized red mark. I get freaked out really easily & started worrying it was mouth cancer or something because I've never seen anything like this. Then someone told me it was probably a blood spot as a result from biting my cheek.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? Does this sound like something I should be worried about? I know this questions kinda weird, but I'm kinda worried... thanks for your time ;)

No need to worry at all. It's common to bite your cheek from time to time, more for others. It should heal in a couple of weeks at the longest. Sometimes if you have a molar or wisdom teeth coming it, it off sets your bite just a bit and your cheek gets in the way when you bite down. You will end up biting your cheek this way.

It is more common then you think. Rinse with warm salt water a couple of times a day. It will heal in about a week or two.

Thanks for your input :) I guess that spot was nothing after all. I took a look in the mirror this morning & it was totally gone. I have horrible hypochondria (health anxiety) & I'm always assuming the worst possible case scenario about everything. I need to work on that!

Thanks for your time. Have a good one!
