I need some advice. I have to give a bit of history to explain my current problem. I got sick on about December 8th. It all started with a small cold and quickly developed into Walking pneumonia. Well I finally went to the doctor and got some antibiotics and an inhailer. After the 10 days of antibiotics I still did not feel one bit better so I went back and was given 5 days of steriods (prednazone). I started that treatment on Thurday of last week, and took 2 days worth. Then I went out of town and forgot the other 3 days worth. Well on Sunday morning I noticed that I have this odd bumps on the back of my tounge. They only slightly bother me when I am eating, but they are more apparent when I am drinking soda/orange juice/or a warm liquid. Today is Tuesday and they don't appear to be getting better. I called the nurse line, because I just don't have time today to sit at the Doctor for and hour and she said it could either be an alergic reaction, or some other disease I picked up. Some at work think its strep throat... Does strep appear as bumps on the tounge? It's only on the back of my tounge...

What I am thinking is that the bumps are my taste buds (enlarged), and are somehow agravated by something I ate or ?.

Or is this all due to my 4 weeks of sickness finally getting better?

Any idea?

It's not unusual that your first round of antibiotics don't work completely. In fact when people get sinus infections, it sometimes takes 2-3 rounds of antibiotics to help them feel better. The bumps on your tongue, sounds like an allergic reaction of some sort, perhaps to the antibiotic. Also, acidity such as orange or citrus juices can aggrivate the mouth and tongue. Does it hurt at all? It could also be a canker sore which could have been brought on by stress, acidity drinks or food. Do you have any other problems such as rash or anyhing other than the bumps on your tongue?

I was on the antibiotics for 10 days (Dec 20-29), and didn't have any allergic reaction. Then I started the steriod and only noticed the bumps on my tongue 2 days into the treatment. If it was allergic woulden't they have shown up right away? I am now taking the other 3 days of meds I was given (went out of town and forgot them) and the bumps don't seem to be getting any worse.

It's not actually one sore. It's like 20-30 bumps all over the back of my tongue. They are not sore unless I am eating or drinking. During my normal day I woulden't even notice them. I am not running a fever. The only "odd" symptom that I have is that I have been having trouble falling asleep at night. Other then that I am starting to feel better. I have been so sick for so long I don't really know what it's like to feel normal anymore.
