Please help!! I have hot flashes ( or personal summers) it seems every few minutes and I can't sleep at night they occur so often. Are there any homeopathetic remedies that work? I have always said I will never use hormones because neither my mother, nor my grandmother nor any of the women in their generations did, but it is driving me crazy. It doesn't help any that my husband is very cold natured. He has taken to sleeping in a separate room. I feel like screaming( not because of my husband but because of the hot flashes

I'm not the best person to recommend something for hot flashes b/c I never had a real bad case of it. I get them occasionally during the day but I tend to get night sweats more at which I just throw the covers off. Soy is suppose to help but you have to take enough of it. I take Revival soy shakes which is 160 mg (equiv. to 6 glasses of soy milk). You might want to also try Estroven or Black Cohosh. There is no instant relief - whatever you take, it takes time and then it might not even work for you. Some women have hot flashes for years. I don't know if you're soaking wet from the hot flashes, but with me, I kept a wet towel to help me cool off next to your bed.

Thanks Molly - I usually don't get soaking wet but at times during the day I will break out in a sweat. I never use to sweat at all. I usually, especially at night feel like I have been inserted into an oven. I, too throw the covers off and turn on my small fan. It's just that it happens so frequently during the night until I wake up rest broken. I am 55 in a month and this just started two months ago. I wonder does age at the onset have any thing to do with it.

Apparently, being sleep deprived is one of the biggest complaints among women and that's b/c of the hot flashes/night sweats. I normally don't sweat either and in comparison to some of the other stuff I went thru, my hot flashes hasn't been too bad. I think age has a lot to do with what we're going thru....we are getting old....falling apart! LOL! (I'm trying to just laugh all this off!).

Some women have to deal w/hot flashes for years....what are you taking? Do you have any other symptoms to deal w/too?

Thanks for the laugh, Molly. I needed that. I also experience what I call "senior moments or episodes," (Sometimes the moments seem to last for days). They include forgetfulness. irritability, impatience, changes in body odor, digestive problems, and diminished sexual drive to name a few
