For the past year I have been trying anti depressant after anti depressant and not a one has helped with my energy level or how I feel. But I just recently got a new psychiatrist whom is very convinced that the problem comes down to the chronic pain I've experienced for some years now. So she wants to address the issue of sleep and hopefully help me get a good nights rest. I also know that the body needs the type 4 rest which is when your body really gets to start resting and healing. Will a medication help me get this kind of rest? Also, I've had nightmares every night for a year now, does this mean I'm not getting the rest I need? I also wake up constantly in the night. I am still searching out people to help me find the source of my pain, but for now, will a medication help me get some of this rest? I feel dead all the time and I can't hardly do anything.

Also, I've had nightmares every night, even some nights I could have 4 nightmares, for the past year. Is effecting my sleep?

I too was recommended to a sleep sleep specialist when no anti-depressants or combos helped my incredible fatigue. After a sleep study, I was diagnosed with a sleep disorder, and finally got the treatment I needed. I spent years thinking all of my problems were symptoms of depression.
It is possible that meds can help you get a good sleep, and nightmares can be a sign of sleep disturbance. But this is really something you need a specialist for - a neurologist or someone else who specializes in sleep, especially since you have such a complex medical history.
Good luck.
