I had back surgery in feb of this year. I have problems still with my right leg. Shooting pain. Hurts to walk. I had brought
the lump or whatever it is to the attention
of a Dr before they just blew it off. The lump or cyst is about the size of a lemon.
This really scares me since its the leg I was originally complaining with. The nuerosurgeon originally said the pain in my leg was from the stenosis of the spine. Iam
in incredible pain. I dont know what to think.. Iam scared. Dont know where to go. Iam afraid it could be a cancer tumor or a blood clot however I havent had any swelling. The area is very tender and my right leg feels over weighted to walk on.

What I would do is insist that you go for a ct scan so that a better look can be taken. I too have complained for years about pain in my left forearm. I have had MRIs, xrays and bone scans. Finally I had a high resolution ultrasound that a NEW doctor ordered and this cyst was detected. My family doctor told me not to worry about it but there is no way that I am letting this go. I am waiting for an appt for a CT Scan since they say there is a little bit of blood in the cyst (which the doctor says is no big deal)
This has been weighing on my mind for a long time , so to me it is a big deal and I will not stop until I know for sure that there is no risk. I suggest you insist now because its always best to find out before its too late to do anything about it.

Don't let the doctors blow you off on this. Though most lumps are nothing the only sure way to tell is thru testing (MRI or CAT Scan) and perhaps a biopsy. I had a very similar thing happen to me. I was being transfered when I found a small lump in my left thigh, no pain, nothing. Just a lump. The doctor felt of it, did an ultrasound and said when I got relocated to have it biopsied, but don't worry he tells me because it's almost always nothing. When I got relocated I had the procedure done as an out-patient. The first pathologist said benign, but the second opinon came back positive as a soft tissue sarcoma. The third opinon also came back positive (come to find out the one I had is very hard to identify). This is not a fast growing tumor but a hard one to get rid of (it likes to reoccur in the same area). Ten-fifteen years ago they would have amputated my leg. What they did for me was to take the whole thigh muscle out and fry my leg with radiation from the knee to the groin. The point is with the pain your having be more aggressive in having it looked at properly. The lump even if it's nothing could be pressing on nerves which could be causing the pain and not a spinal problem. Best of luck in finding out what it is.
