View Full Version : "new flu?"

Hi,

A few of my colleagues have come down with what they told me their doctors are calling the "new flu." Rather than being hit with a high fever, body aches and chills, it's more like a mono-type illness whose symptoms at onset include strange stomach cramps, waves of morning-sickness-like nausea, dizzyness and being suddenly overcome with a terrible fatigue. One of my colleagues has reported that she's been sick with whatever this is for almost 3 months and I'm very concerned now because I came home from work yesterday with every definable symptom. Like I said, there is no real fever, though I do feel feverish at times, and the main problem for me is lightheadedness and fatigue. I was just wondering if anyone out there was experiencing this 'new flu' or if it was just a strange outbreak in my area. Also, does anyone know of any natural anti-viral remedies?

Any responses would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Jarlena

There is a new stomach flu going around in my state, Florida, and it appears to be giving school children a rough time of it. Employees where I work are all having to be out with sick children and they seem to be getting this thing. I also have customers that are calling in sick that otherwise would be coming by, so it is out there.

Thank you both so much for your prompt replies. Sorry to hear that so many people are sick with this...it's been an awful season for colds/flu.

Thanks much,
Jarlena

What part of the country are you from? I haven't heard of it where I live the Midwest YET. On the local news the other night they were alerting people to the fact that this is the worst time of year for flu's and other illness. People have been traveling all over the country and bringing back what ever is going around in that regein.
I hope you get over this quicker. 3 months is a heck of a long time.
((hugs)) and best wishes

I am from the midwest and woke up suddenly on New Year's Eve morning with weird stomach cramps and the abnormal BM's started on Jan. 2. The Bm's are not the normal color or consistency. They are also very mucousy and smelly. Still cramps and nausea off and on all day, but no throwing up yet. I too have been tired, more so than usual. Is this what you are experience.

Dear Luvmyboys:

I am from New Jersey and alot of people in the NY/NJ area seem to be coming down with two different types of flu this year, it seems. The first is the one I described, the severe dizzyness, nausea, and extreme fatigue that hits you out of the blue. I had no temperature and no diarreah but did have strange stomach cramps when it first hit me. The other flu thats going around is a serious stomach virus with lots of diarreah and vomiting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I am spared that version!

Anyway, after taking a host of alternative remedies I am happy to report that I am finally beating this thing! Thanks again to all who replied. I do hope and pray that everyone feels better fast.

Be well and God bless,
Jarlena

Well I have had something strange for the past 3 weeks. Mostly coughing to the point of almost throwing up and feeling like I cant breath. But I had a fever, felt nauseus, headache one day, diarhea a few days, aches and pains, wheezing, strange feelings in throat. But most symptoms would last a few days then leave my main symptoms have been cough, wheezing and general malaise. :bouncing:

I live in Ohio, and I think today I came down with this new flu. I was sitting in class and all of the sudden felt extremely light headed. I left and started walking to the restroom feeling like I was going to faint/blurry vision. I laid down for a bit, got something to eat even though I wasn't hungry and went home. The whole time I felt this pain in my stomach and was also extremely tired. I went home and slept for a little bit, woke up and still had this ANNOYING pain in my stomach. Finally I threw up, and felt much better as far as my stomach went. But right now I still have this terrible fatigue, and I've been sleeping all day. Anyone else feeling it?

Oh, by the way I don't have any sore throat or bad cough yet. (Knock on wood).
