I just got a prescription for Yasmin today, after having an apparent reaction to the glue on the patch(!?), among other things.
So, does anyone have any specific experiences to share? good stuff, bad stuff, everything, I'd love to hear what I'm getting into before I do!
Specifically, I'm looking for any effects people had on their libido, that horrible feeling of "heaviness" (apparently Yasmin has a bit of a water pill in it.. so there *should* be no problems there..) ah! and migraines/PMS/painful periods.. (did it cause them/will it get rid of it, and will it get rid of them..?)
thx :)

I've been taking Yasmin for 4 months now and so far so good. I do feel i'm more emotional lately--crying very easily at the littlest of things. I haven't had any breakthrough bleeding, no weight gain, no side effects that I have noticed really. My breasts get a little tender and swollen now and then but I don't mind the swollen part LOL ;).
I was on Depo before Yasmin so remembering to take a pill eveyday is difficult to get use to, but other than that I'm happy with it. Everyone is different though, hope this helps.

Scooper...I was wondering how you did going from the depo to the Yasmin and when did you switch? When your next shot would have been due? or when you started bleeding/period? I am on depo, now for the last 2 yrs and want to get off. I am considering Yasmin. what kind of side effects have you had?

My daughter was prescribed Yasmin originally due to problems with her cycle, which it corrected. There have been no side effects at all. She changed from that to Seasonale recently only because of the convenience. Missing a day will cause spotting, though. As with any daily medication, it's best to set a specific time to take it.

Hi, I've been taking Yasmin for nearly a year I think. Not for contraceptive tho. So far I've had no problems at all. Skin gets worse when taking it, but same with any pill. Moods seem to be better.

I am on my second month of Yasmin after 9 years of ortho tricyclen. Aside from OTC significantly lowering my libido, it made me very anxious and I had trouble concentrating. Now that I am on Yasmin, my libido hasn't really improved yet but I do feel like I can think clearer, if that makes sense. Not so anxious or meotional as I used to be. I have noticed some headaches and upset stomach that I didn't have before, but I think that that kind of thing is normal during the first few months on a new pill. Also, my breasts are more sore pre-period than they were on OTC, but like I said, it's only my second month. So far the positives outweighs the negatives.

I have been thinking of switching to yasmin too. Im wondering price wise w/out insurance?
Im currently on Seasonale, it's not terrible i have had the lite breakthrough bleeding, but I dont think i've had weight gain since i was on another pill prior to seasonale. So i think it came from the one b4, that is the only thing holding me back from switching.
Nugget I know what you mean about correcting a cycle, that is why i got on bc to begin with, it also lets me go cramp free most every time!

I switched from Depo to the patch, and my doctor told me to start it the sunday before my next shot was due. I didn't have any problems doing that, I'm sure it would be the same idea as the pill.

Hi ladies. I am not getting any responses on my other posts (I just joined the boards this week), so I thought mabye you all would help me. First, I went to the gyno at a clinic yesterday in hopes she would put me on Yasmin...I've had continual breakouts on my chin and jawline for about 10 years, so I have concluded they must be hormonal (I've learned so much from these boards!). She also thought Yasmin would be best for me, however I do not have insurance yet, so she had to put me on Ortho Tri instead. I don't know if I should even try Ortho Tri after reading these boards and am wondering if I could just order Yasmin online until insurance kicks in and she can prescribe it for me. What do you think about ordering it online? Also, did you experience the major initial breakouts on Yasmin I have heard so much about? I have never taken any type of bcp before so maybe that comes with most of them? Thank you!!!
