I've had red spots develope periodically around a particular eye. I'm pretty sure it's not acne. It seems like an allergic reaction. I have no idea what causes it. I've tried changing shampoos and have made other changes to no avail. I've tried hydrocortisone creams and it works sometimes but it then seems to irritate worse after awhile. Anyone have these issues and what did you do?

I get those too and I have NO idea why. I thought maybe it was from my eye make-up so I just threw most of it out thinking it was old. I haven't had any of the bumps since.
Do you use any creams or face washes that could cause them? Do you ever rub your eyes? Bacteria is probably the cause of it. Make sure your facial products haven't been sitting around for a long time, make sure your towels are clean as well as everything else that touches your face/eye area.

Actually, you have touched on a couple of very real possibilities. Namely, my facial cloths. It could be that they develope some bacteria from being wet, drying and then being reused. (Sometimes I forget :o ) Also I do touch my eyes quite a bit due to dry/itchy skin. Perhaps I should be using a nice anti-bacterial soap or cream on the area?? Maybe even a dandruff anti-fungal shampoo would work. I have been to the dermatologist for this and all she ever gives me is a version of hydrocortisone. NOT WORKING

Yeah sometimes specialists can overlook the obvious. It's the same with acne, sometimes it can be helped by making sure your sheets, washcloths, towels and anything that touch your face is clean... scarves, coats, sweaters... everything that goes near your face should be clean.
I hope the bumps have gone away for you!

Well, I'm back to square one here. I've tried changing detergents, soaps, shampoos and even went and got an allergy test done at the derms.office. Nothing. The doc said it's definitely a dermatitis being brought on by an allergen but I can't figure out what the heck it is! Anyone who has dermatitis have any suggestions on what to put on skin besides a form of hydrocortisone. This is brutal to the skin, and I'm concerned about the long term effects on such a thin skinned area.
