View Full Version : Birth Control that Increases Libido? Help!

I have been taking birth control for about a year now. I take Velivet which is the generic for Cyclessa. My sex drive has been very low to the point where now I can live without sex. Once in a blue moon I will have sexual urges, but even that is very rare.

My question: Is there a birth control that does not affect your libido or better yet increase it?

Thanks! Any help would be great!

Each pill affects everyone differently - your GYN might have a good reccomendation, but pretty much when ur dealing with hormones, everyone reacts differently. The only pill I've heard of that people claim increased their sex drive was Alesse, but that doesn't mean it'll do it for everyone. How ironic is that - the pill allows you have sex, but decreases your desire for it- isn't it great to be female

Good luck!

I had the same problem. I have been prescribed Loestrin 1/30. It is the most androgenic BCP on the market and is supposed to increase your drive (or atleast, NOT diminish it) and has very low incidents of other side effects. I have read good reviews about it and women have said their libido went up (or back to normal) after switching to Loestrin -- the 30 mg. one though, not the Loestrin 1/20. I start it this Sunday and will let you know how it goes. I was on Seasonale for the past 6 months, and gained weight and lost my drive. Cyndee

Regarding Cyndee's post, I was recently switched to Loestrin also. Isn't Loestrin 1/20 supposed to give you less side effects (ex. sex drive) than Loestrin 1/30 since 1/20 has a lower dose of estrogen? Or am I wrong?

I have only heard that Loestrin 1.5/30 increases sex drive. I've heard the opposite about Loestrin 1.5/20. REMOVED -- Loestrin 1.5/30 received very good ratings (4.2 out of 5), whereas Loestrin 1.5/20 only received 3 out of 5 -- I can't explain it, but people had more problems with the lower dose Loestrin. I'm on Day 2 and have experienced no problems so far. Cyndee

Interesting...let me know how it works for you. Today is my 2nd day of Loestrin 1/20!
