My wife just got her results yesterday. Overall is 230. I can't remember the HDL and LDL - however, her doctor told her she has nothing to worry about, because her good cholesterol was high enough and her bad cholesterol was low enough. Is she in the clear? Or is that 230 something to worry about?

If I were you I would request a copy of the records from that doctor visit. It would have the breakdown of the Total including HDL, LDL and triglycerides. That would really give you a much better picture. Come back and post them then and I'm sure you'll get some helpful advice.
Uff-Da!

Agreed. Without the breakdown it is hard to tell much.

Never leave a doctors office without getting a copy of your blood report. Obviously, your wife's cholesterol/hdl ratio is mostly likely below 5. If you had a copy of the report you would know this. I applaud her doctor for not overreacting to the 230 like many doctors do. Mine is 222 which doesn't concern me either since my ratio is 4.0. Call the doctors office and have them send you a copy of the report. I have my blood test reports going back 14 years and have tracked my progress. Also, if I change doctors, I can give them copies. I don't mean to preach but it upsets me that people don't realize that they paid for there blood test and it belongs to them.

Thanks, everyone. She has the numbers - I just forgot them. I'll ask her today and then post them.
