I am 27 and I am taking care of my dad who was diagnosed with lung cancer in november 2004. It is really bad they done a thousand test and said it is the size of a grapefruit on the left side and 2 small dots on the left. They did test to see if it had already spread and only found it in the noduals close to the tumor. Bad thing is the tumor presses up against his throat. He coughs all the time. He has went through chemo and radiation for 5 weeks now he will have all the x-rays done again to see if they can operate. If they do they will be taken all of the left lung out. The chemo and radiation he has lost about 20lb even tho he eats all the time and drinks ensure. I am very worried that it will spread. so if anyone has any questions about test for this i would know all about them

I totally understand what you are going through..I am 39 and my dad is 60 and was also diagnosed with cancer in Nov. He has it in his lungs, hip and pelvic area. He went for radiation which has shrunk the tumor on his hip and has started chemo last Monday. Well he had a cat scan done last week and the cancer has spread in the pelvic area and another new spot on the lung.
The tumor on the hip has caused a bone to break. Other than the intense pain of the hip bone he feels good. He eats like a horse but like your dad has lost weight. He was always small (145 lbs) and 2 weeks he weighed 135 . I was devasted when I first found out. I lost my mom when I was 35 (4 1/2 years ago) and I don't want to lose my dad. My dad is so postive! He is a fighter. He says he is going to beat this. The prognosis is not good but as long as he and we maintain a postive attitude it may keep him around for a long while. You and your dad will be in my thoughts.....

You are also in my thoughts. I am 25 and my father was just diagnosed before Christmas. I have yet to find someone close to my age in my home city that understands how I am feeling right now :)
