Just had an inquiry!
Had anyone every gotten one of those cuts on the top of your vagina?? I've gotten them before I was diagnosed with HSV 1. I just had sex with my bf so I though maybe it was from that, but then I noticed there was a spot on the inside so I called my doctor and he gave me 3 days of valtrex just in case. I'm just curious if this would even be an outbreak because of what they say about HSV 1 genitally coming back again. My first outbreak was about 3 weeks ago and lasted about a week and a half. I also find that i'm more sensitive when we have sex. It almost feels like burning now as before it didnt feel like that so much. Unless it did and i'm just noticing it!
Did anyone else feel this way?? or have gotten the cut, but not necisarrily(sp?) because of HSV????

The cut may well be an HSV1 outbreak, or it could be from rough sex. I have read of a couple of people having problems with genital HSV1 for a couple of months before it settles down. If it is an OB, it could be a continuation or a hangover from your first OB - if it was only three weeks ago, this is quite possible. Keep an eye on your genital symptoms, they may persist for the next couple of months but if genital HSV1 follows its usual pattern in you, you should notice improvement after that time.

How were you diagnosed with HSV1, by the way? Do you ever suffer from thrush?

I got it from asymptomatic shedding. I got it from him orally. I dont think I suffer from thrush because I dont know what that is!!

Ok I meant, how did you find out you had herpes? What kind of test was carried out?
By thrush I mean a vaginal yeast infection which causes irritation, itchiness, pain and thick white discharge on the vagina. In extreme cases, it can cause cuts and lesions - although this would be rare.

I had an OB and the doctor took a swab and sent it for testing. The test results came back positive for HSV 1.
I dont have any irritation, itchiness or pain, but I do have pretty thick white discharge. But thats like every day though. Is that normal? Because i've always had thick white discarge for a long time.

I think you should consider going to your doctor. A small amount of discharge is normal for women, but if it is thick and white it could well be a sign of thrush. This is a vaginal yeast infection, which is sometimes sexually transmitted but more usually appears for other reasons resulting from a chemical inbalance in the vagina. It clears up easily with treatment. As I say, there's an outside chance it's the source of the cut on your vagina - it could well be HSV1, but there's a small possibility it is resulting from untreated thrush.
If you can't see your doctor, you could always try one of the over the counter remedies available for thrush - they'll be available from all pharmacies - and see if this clears up the discharge and makes the vagina area more comfortable for you.

Thanks! I think I might go to my doctor and see what he says. I'm too lazy to drive there cause its about a 25-30 min drive on the expressway. Where I live everything is usually close by!
I'll see what he says, but i'v had many pap smears done even when i've had this, and nothing really has come up. I guess they dont check that unless you ask.
its not so much like discharge, its white but its on the acutal skin inside my vagina. I can rub it off and it'll be clear for a while but then its comes back!
who knows... but thanks though!

My ex and I both have herpes. My breakouts vary all the time. Sometimes all I get is a tingling/irritation with no visible signs on the skin. Other times, I get a little '' rash'' that looks like a shave rash. And then I get '' coldsore'' looking things - all genitally. I have had a re-curring pimple which I now know is herpes because it keeps re-curring in the same spot.
My ex got sores/spots and cuts. He once had 2 cuts on his penis, which he put down to us having a lot of sex ( but we did not have rough sex)....well a few days later I got a cut on the corner of my lip so I know for sure anything that looks like a '' cut '' down there can be herpes. Please read, read, read as much as you can on herpes. There are some great sites out there. You can type in search engines '' does herpes look like cut" and you will get info. Take care.

Could be anything but get it checked out, see if it is causing the problems. The cut could indeed be HSV1 - as the poster above says, herpes can often resemble cuts - but I think you should rule out any other problems - bacterial infection, yeast etc - so you know what you are dealing with. Pap smears ONLY check for changes in the cells of the cervix which indicate cancerous or precancerous cells, and nothing else. Many women get confused and think they can't have too much wrong genitally because they have pap smears, but pap smears relate to HPV and to cervical cancer - not to herpes or to any other genital problem. Whilst the medical professional who carries out your pap may, if they notice other symptoms, ask you if you want them checked out or recommend that you see someone about them, a clear pap smear does not mean clear of all STDs or of other vaginal problems.

Thanks! I always wondered that.
So I"ll ask my doctor and hopefully he's either tell me what it is or tell me its normal to have white stuff down there quite often.
I just hate it when you ask them a question and they dont know!! lol
THanks backpacker you've been soo much help!
