Hi everyone. I was wondering if I could get some opinions.
Here is my story in a nutshell. I have never had sex with anyone other than my wife for over 10 yrs. She and I recently seperated. About 3 weeks ago, some friends took me out and I got drunk and had unprotected sex with a stranger. I called her the next day to apologize and let her know that I was clean. She said the same and we went on our ways.
A couple days later, I had some discomfort in my penis, but no sores, discharge, oozing etc. About one week ago I started to have some discomfort in my lower abdomen (on the left side mainly). I wouldn't call it pain, but it is uncomfortable. I still don't see any visual signs, but have occasional disvcomfort in the penis. I have had a cold and a few clusters of white bumps appeared on my lip. Doesn't hurt or itch. It hasn't gotten bigger or scabbed. I have had these for as long as I can remember so I am not too worried.
Of course what worries me is the cramping/discomfort in my lower abdomen/groin. Some people on messege boards have said that it is a classic sign of herpes and that I probably have it. Is this true?
I have been tested for the bacterial infections and am clean. I tested for HIV, but won't have results for about 5 days.
Basically, I am most worried about herpes since this seems to be the thing people say I have. hey might be talking out of their butts, but it still scares me. Any ideas or comments?

Could be a sign of H. I know for me it was a little pinch on the head of my penis every now and then. Only way to know is to get tested.. I wish you the best

Unless you have more symptoms, I would think probably it is not herpes. Perhaps it is psychological? If you do get tested, I think you have to wait a certain length of time for the results to be valid. Can someone who knows about the testing let him know how long to wait?

That is why I am worried. I have been told that unless I have a lesion, they can't do an accurate test at this point. I guess if you do a blood test you need to wait 3 months or more. I know I don't have any of the "classic" symptoms, but the abdominal cramping following the unprotected sex has me concerned.

I've often heard/read that you should wait 2 - 3 months, but my sexual health clinic says they can get just the same results after only 2 weeks with the Western Blot (sp?) blood test. Then again, any info to do with herpes always contradicts itself, depending who you speak to and where you read the info.
I suppose it doesn't hurt to have an initial blood test after two weeks, just to settle your nerves, then don't have any sexual contact with anybody and have another blood test down the line.
Maybe your abdomen pains are due to nerves/stress, as is the cold sore on your lip. I'm not sure if any other std's cause discomfort in the abdominal area. Do you have a sexual health clinic in your area? Phone them up and speak to one of their counsellors or doctor so that you may get the most accurate information. If there aren't any in your home area, it's worth travelling to a town which does have one of these clinics. I find them to be better than your average gp, but then again, i'm in Australia, so not sure what you guys have in the states or what one of these clinics might be called.

I have talked to some clinics in the area, but they don't test for herpes unless you have an open sore.
