View Full Version : Any ideas?

I also posted this in the STD forum. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be up?

Late last spring i got unprotected oral sex from a girl I knew....nothing other than kissing and her giving me oral sex. Approximately a day and a half or two days after that I started to come down with something but didnt think much of it at the time. A little stomach pain, nothing too unusual...perhaps just a flu bug. As time progressed it got a little worse and my groin started burning....I figured "oh crap I hope I didnt get anything from her" and fully expected my groin to flare up with blisters or lesions or something but it never happened. As time progressed my groin burnt more and more...not specifically in my penis or anything, didnt burn when I urinated or anything...just the pubic area and it felt very weird. I also noticed a change in vision which seems present even now...lots of floaters and somewhat blurrier vision. I went to planned parenthood and explained the story and they ran some basic tests by having me pee in a cup...the usual gambit but everything came back negative. At week 12 at the advice of my GP I took a WesternBlot Herpes Test....results were negative. Sometime in May when I still felt run down I woke up one day with such severe stomach pains I had to go to the emergency room. They ran Mono/CBC/Hep ABC tests...all negative. Was told to just "not worry about it" and take some advil for the pain. Had a change in the consistency of bowel movements...lot of diarrhea...had to give up alcohol temporarily because it seemed to make the abdomen pain worse. Ran some blood tests around 5 months post exposure (Syphillis, HIV, Herpes 1 and 2) and again...everythings negative. Ran another Herpes ELISA 1/2 at 7 months post exposure and the titer was well below .90 (negative both types). Had some bumps checked out by an infectious disease specialist who believes them to be infected hair folliciles and got Doxycycline...its too early to tell if its doing anything yet. The entire time Ive been pretty sure its herpes but based on negative blood tests Im starting to wonder if its other things going on.

Now, based on the good word of several physicians including STD specialists, General Practitioners, Urologists and Infectious Disease Specialists I do not have anything resembling herpes coupled with the negative tests. However, no one seems to have an answer as to what could be causing my problems.

my symptoms are/have been: slightly blurry vision, bumps on scrotum that look similar to acne, inflamed looking head of penis, the occasional bump on penis...when I pop them they sometimes drain clear fluid or have a pimple like consistency, occasional lower back pain, muscle twitches throughout my legs and more recently in my upper back and sometimes in my shoulders, a general feeling of my health/well being being less than normal.

I was seeing a girl for a few months who gave me unprotected oral sex on several occasions. She was confident with negative tests when i got them and shes never shown any outward symptoms. I was too worried to have vaginal intercourse with her though.

Anyone know or can think of anything that would be causing this? For a long time Ive just assumed herpes and it cant be anything else but the three negative blood tests (including a western blot) would definetly indicate something else is the culprit. Home remedies for herpes like lysine seem to have no effect.

Why do you thinkit has to be an STD? Stomach problems are usually caused by something else, often only stress. And it sounds like you have been stressing! I hope that's what it is. I have two friends with irritable bowel syndrome with some of the symptoms you describe.

because none of the symptoms were present prior to this sexual episode. Im not insistent that it has to be an STD, Im just skeptical that it could have been coincedental.

I am in the same boat as you. I have the lower abdominal cramping that coincidently started about 2 weeks after my experience. It very well could be stress, but I also know it could be my lymph nodes fighting an infection down there.

Hang in there, and be sure to let us know hwat the docs find out.
