Hey Guys and Gals,

For the last 13 weeks i have experienced Muscle/ nerve movement throughout the hole of my body.

About 13 weeks ago (begin of October 04) I went into work on that Friday(8 Oct) and experienced the muscle/ nerve (not sure which is moving) in my left leg (thigh) just started moving, i could just see the muscle/nerve moving in my leg, up and down up and down it went.
It wasnt like my leg was kicking out just this annoying slight movement in my thigh. This lasted about 3 hours. then later happened when i got home.

For the last 18months before this happened i just started my new job (current) and worked extremley hard, my work also involved me traveling around the world. So the day before the "twiching" started to happen i had a "pay review" with my MD, of which i left very unhappy, the next day the "twiching" started.

I mostly get "twiching" in both my arms and both legs.
I saw my Doctor 4 weeks (after it started) as the "twiching" had not stopped, he ran a few tests on nerve reactions (ie hitting my leg with a hammer and seeing it react, etc..) he said all seemed fine, he said it was probley down to Stress that the movemnets where happening.
After that the next few days i did not really notice it, then seemed to go back to normal "twitching".

I had to fly out to the middle east for business and flew back on the 23rd of December, that was the first day i noticed that i did not have any "twiches" then the 24th Dec i did not have any either. After that i had a few every day they mostly only last 20 seconds at a time, and normally moment of the legs or arms (were ever its happeing) will cure it.

Today on my drive to work(stuck in traffic 4 ages) i noticed my left thigh "twitching" again this lasted about 20min.
So i have booked another appointment to see the Doctor this Thursday.

I saw a post on this site http://www.healthboards.com/boards/archive/index.php/t-75526.html
that user shirbarrdm wrote, and made me think(hope)....

I do take multivitamins and minerals everyday and take codliveroil with calcium.

Love to hear if anyone has had the same kinda experience so please post, the muscle/ nerve movemnts is sporadic, never the same area of the body all the time, im 22 and have to admit its starting to get me a worried about whats going on.

I've been buzzing/twitching too. The twitching usually moves around, sometimes it's in my legs, sometimes chest, sometimes feet.

It's probably BFS. Not much we can really do about it though. Let us know what your doctor said.

Hi,
I saw your postings and wanted to respond. I have been having twitching also, in my feet, calves and eyes. I went to my Internist and he referred me to a neurologist. He first checked my Magnesium & Potassium levels. If they are not normal the large muscles in your body will twitch or spasm. You may want to have your doc check those.

My husband has been having the muscle cramping and spasms for almost a year. After almost 5 months and 3 neurologists later, they all agree it is BFS. Very frustrating. There is nothing they can do. He works with his hands and often drops tools and has to stop working to recover from the spasms.
He has started taking Vitamin B12 complex, quinine, and calcium. He says that is might be helping. Although he had a bad day yesterday.

I seem to have the same thing going on, only mine is a little different. I have the feeling of nerves twitching here and there along with a slight pins and needles feeling. I have no other symptoms such as loss of vision or imbalance that would lead me to believe that it has to do with multiple sclerosis. Right now we have a lot of stress in our family and I am thinking that maybe it is that. I notice when I wake up in the mornings that my circulation is poor (slightly numb arms) and as I wake up I feel my arms get warm as my heart starts beating harder and I can actually feel the blood flow in my arms increase and as it does I feel a nerve in each arm jump or tingle, just once. I have been reading a great deal on diabetic neuropathy as I am slightly overweight and have noticed that when I eat sugar my eyesight is slightly worse. I feel it might just be stress, or perhaps it is diabetic neuropathy or multiple sclerosis. I am not sure. It was quite bad a few days ago and now it seems to have gotten slightly better. It seems to be worse in the late afternoons or evenings. I was reading about the symptoms of multiple sclerosis and one of the symptoms is muscle twitching, but I have no vision or balance problems, which is a prime indicator of MS. So, I am stumped other than that I DO feel a great deal of anxiety. I am starting a regimen of Paxil to see if that helps at all. I will report back here if the Paxil seems to help with the anxiety and/or twitching. I hope all of you start to feel better and if anyone else is reading this I guess you will take some comfort in knowing that a lot of other people seem to have the same problem. Here is a good website on neuropathies if anyone wants to read it:

One thing is for sure: Get rest and relax and enjoy the day! Sleeping always seems to help everyone feel better.

hi- i have been having this same problem for about 2 months now. it just started when i noticed these swollen glands in my pelvic area. Went to see 2 different docs. both ran blood tests, urine cultures, chest and back exrays.. everything is normal they say. When i keep asking what may be causing the twitching, they say they dont know~ this is unacceptable to me. The swollen glands are almost gone but i am feeling so frustrated and hopeless all the time with these twitches.. i have had issues with anxienty in the past and not sure if this is anxiety now. i have actually had some drastic life changes lately.. although i do not feel stressed at all.. just frustrated.
I tried taking the magnesium/calcium suppliments and i thought it was actually working cause last week the twitching stopped for about 4 days! now it is back and i am at a complete loss. not sure if i should consider seeing a neuroligist/muscle specialist ??
please help! :o

If that is the only symptom it is probably benign. If you want more peace of mind go to a neurologist and get a EMG test. It will determine if your nerves and muscles are normal. I just had one done last week and I feel much better about it. He says all is normal. He calls it benign Fasciculation Syndrome. Mine are constant, they never stop completely. At times they can really be twitching. It's good to know it's not some bad Neurological disease.

My husband had a twitching muscle in his arm off-and-on for a few weeks. When he went off Lipitor it stopped. I don't know if there is a connection or not. Just a thought.

Twitching can get worse from taking medication. In fact mine started when I was taking Zoloft. It got better when I quit the Zoloft but it never went away completely. I have read cold remedies, antihistamines, decongestants, etc can make them worse.
