I have heard that you can find out who gave who herpes... is this true? Can you have a test done on yourself as well as your partner and see who had the virus first??
thank you for your responses!!

i dont know, ive heard of tests that check for you anti-body count against the virus, and ive heard that it can determin if its been fora while or if its newer? Im not 100% about that though!
I've given up on tryin to find out, after hearing i could have easily gotten from a cold sore from my b/f! I decided not to contact my other two sex partners...Im just gonna deal w/it!

i doubt it.............b/c i asked my doctor if she could tell me how long i have had the virus.......i.e.......2 weeks, 2 months, 2 years........so i could know for a fact who i got it from............she said that she could not determine that and i that i could have harbored the disease in my body my entire life.....i was so confused.................but i'm 99.9% sure of who i got it from...........

Antibody counts might give you some kind of clue, but it's not for definite. Many people never know who gave them herpes. You should ask yourself why you want to know? If it is to inform former partners so they can be tested, then you should both do this, just in case. But without meaning to be condescending, if you are looking for a place to lay the blame... it isn't worth it. What has happened has happened and you should try to move on.

Thats the only reason I was looking....so that is why I gave up...after hearing I could have had it for a few years or gotten from a cold sore...I decided why waste my time to find out?! And what if i got it from my current then the two guys from my past need to know?! I think not. We will wait till my current is tested, but i dont think i will go on to tell others!

i totally agree........it is def. not worth it........i never said a thing to the person i'm 99.99999% sure (lol) i got it from........b/c he could always just deny it.....thank god i've only seen him once since
