Is there another alternative then taken Pseudoephedrine for decongestion? I have been having a problem with congestion but, I am sensitive to this medicine. I get antsy and don't sleep very good.
Any suggestions I could possible give to my Dr.?

Not really. There used to be a great decongestent on the market called phenylpropoalamine (PPA) - it worked well for people who could not tolerate sudafed. FDA took it off the market about 4 years ago. My ENT told me the study on which they based this decision was faulty. At any rate, it was a great decongestent.

Have you tried taking short-acting sudafed during the day only?

Using a saline rinse can help decongest your sinuses. Also, flonase or rhinocort, inhaled corticosteroids, treat inflammation in the sinuses and therefore help congestion.

I have no idea how well it works, but there is a decogestant that is marketed to people with high blood pressure. I can't remember what it is called though. I will try to find out and get back to you.

Also Entex contains Phenylephrine. It is prescription only though

Have you used a nasal decongestant spray before? I assume the pseudoephedrine that you are taking is oral form because mine was. Since the medication goes directly to your nose and doesn't goes to your GI and get absorb thru the blood stream... there will be less systemic side effects. Nasal decongestant spray also works better than the oral one. If mucus is causing the congestion, irrigation might help too...
