View Full Version : Could it be?

well i guess i should start with some background info first, about five months ago, i had a one night stand with a girl who worked with a friend of mine. all that occured was kissing, fingering and then she gave me oral for no time at all....literally it was less than a minute. well at the time i paid no attention to it, but she had what now i assume to have been a cold sore aka HSV 1. it was crusted over at the time, bc if it had been oozing puss and what not i would have turned and ran away. At first this scared me but when i felt fine for a couple of months i thought nothing of it. then in the middle of december, i started having lower bank pains and lower abdominal cramps. this has gone away and in the last 2 or 3 weeks i have had what seems to be a slight occassional itch in my groin area and my testicles seem to hang lower than they used to constantly sticking to my legs and what not. Well, i've been told i'm a horrible hypocondriac (sp?) and so i have worried myself thinkin it is herpes even though there were no true symptoms, but then last friday night i went to urinate and noticed a small red spot, almost resembling a scratch on my scrotum, and then a spot perfectly even with it about 1/3 of an inch away, which i proceeded to pick at both and neither of them are painful or bleed or anything and seem to be healing on their own. They dont resemble any pictures of herpes i have been able to find on the internet and also arent filled with anything, they are exactly like a scratch and almost completely flush with the rest of my skin on the scrotum. as of now they there are still only 2 and arent red, just still there, and they don't itch or burn or hurt in anyway. so should i be concerned that this is herpes since it has been 5 months since i was with that girl? or could it be something else? i am going to my doctor next week for a physical(the real kind with blood work and all, not the kind from highschool you got for football), and i'm not sure if they test for stds in physicals. any light that can be shed on this would be greatly appreciated.

Briefly, the best thing for you to do is get a blood test to see if you have the antibodies to the virus. You have to specifically ask for it, otherwise the doctor won't order it unless he sees some visible symptoms.

yea i had already planned on asking him to test me for everything possible (hypocondriac), but from what i described does anyone think it is herpes? This morning i noticed that they are both looking really good and that one is better than the other bc i barely picked at it, and still pain free and itch free. so any input is appreciated

Sorry, but it could be absolutely anything. Yes, could be herpes - could be nothing at all. Herpes varies from person to person so much that we really can't tell you. The only thing that is typical about this virus is how different it is for everyone!

Good luck - if it is HSV1, you should be lucky and not have too much trouble with it.

thanks for the help, and i figured since i hadnt had any of the typical symptoms that no one would really be able to know what it is. However, i'm guessing that HSV1 is a lot easier to deal with when located genitals? if you don't mind, please elaborate....thanks again

I have had the exact same signs as you, the "scratches", and the itching and back pain before. I am getting tested in two weeks. That is when my new insurance takes effect. I am assuming mine is herpes, 1 or 2 I do not know, I also think I have had it for quite some time, I remember the itch to go back for quite a while, maybe once or twice year in the same spot since my x and I started having sex about three years ago. I didn't think anything of it at that time. It looks like we are both in the same "boat". I have to check around and see where I can get type specific blood tests done, unfortunately my scratches are now healed over and have left no other clues for a culture to take place, I am hoping a blood test will be accurate without physical evidence. Keep us posted on your results. I am assuming that the back pain and itching went away within a couple of days, mine had in 3-4 days, and the sratches were gone in another 3-4 days.

yea the back pain went away, but it felt as if i had pulled a something, and i also experienced chest pains at the same time. i'm not 100% positive it is herpes since i have yet to be tested, but i'm pretty much telling myself it is so that it isnt as much of a shock when i get results.

In the dark,

I feel the same way, I'm just setting myself up that it is herpes.... Then if it isn't its good, and if it is it isn't such a shock.... Have you ever had any symptoms before, or was that first time? Like I said before, I remember having the scratches and itch before my one night screw up on new years, so I think I've had it for a while and never realized what it was. Who knows, maybe we just pulled a muscle, I kind of doubt it though.....

no this the first time i've had these symptoms and it was last aug when i messed around with the girl. so i do find it slightly odd that it would take 4-5 months for anything to occur, but like i said, we'll just have to wait and see. Bummed, have you ever experienced any of the common symptoms that all the websites list?

Dark,

I have never had any of the symptoms other than what I stated, Just the itch and redness, back pain this time, and the cuts/scratches.... I've never had any more pain or pimples or anything like that nature... So I'm guessing, but don't really know for sure. I'll have to waite till I get checked. Like I said, if it wasn't for a new partner, I would have just shrugged it off to having a reaction to something. I'm not sure about the itching, can't remember, but have only had the cuts one other time after very rough intercourse. Who knows's??? I can't remeber anything in general that brings on the itching, I always thought it was jock itch or something like that.

yea the only true answer is to be checked, but if it is herpes for the both of us, i have a feeling it wont be as bad as some make it to be, bc like i have seen some people post, in the end it is just a skin rash with no cure. It doesnt cause any actual life threatening damage. I guess that could be seen as an upside.........
