My wife has just been diagnosed with eye cancer and
has been told that her eye will probably have to be
removed. This is a rare form of cancer so if someone
out there also has this form of cancer please reply
with your advice on how best to handle this problem.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't personally know anyone who has had this type of cancer. Suggest you try ACOR; they have groups for different types of cancers as well as information links. Here's the link for their eye cancer groups:

Other excellent sources of information:
National Cancer Institute home page: http://www.nci.nih.gov/
PDQs - this describes the preferred [most effective] specific procedures and therapies by type and subtype of cancer. If there is more than one international standard, the PDQ will give you the rationale for each.

Clinical trials - although this is a U.S. site, there are many clinical trials especially for rare cancers that are conducted internationally.

If your wife is being treated at Sacre Coeur, the Royal Vic or any of the other major teaching hospitals associated with U. de M. or McGill, their oncology departments regularly participate in intramural, national and international clinical trials.
Good luck,
