I'm trying to think when I get my sinus infections and coincidentally I only get them right after I fly. I flew 3 times this year and the 3 times I got a sinus infection a couple of days after flying.... Otherwise I don't get them...
Is there a connection???????

I think so. The air in airplanes is hardly filtered at all. All those people and all those germs in unfiltered air, and it's no wonder people get sick when they fly. Also, I'm convinced the pressure changes from taking off and landing loosen up any gunk that's been hiding out in your sinuses and causes it to start draining.

Absolutely spot on!
I fly a little ultralight, and we are told in no uncertain terms NOT to fly if there is any hint of nasal congestion (colds/flu/sinusitis etc.).
I once read of a pilot who flew with what he thought was mild sinusitis. He was descending quite rapidly and the sinus pain became really quite excruciating. He managed to land be making a very, very slow descent, to allow the pressure to equalise in his sinuses. Lesson learnt the hard way!
So yup, definitely pressure related!

Every time I fly, whether a long international flight or a short flight in the states I ALWAYS get the dreaded sinus infection. Here's what I'm going to try b/c I think it is both a dust/germs issue and a pressure issue:
1. Rinse your sinuses with ocean nasal rinse and get everything out before the flight.
2. Buy and wear a surgical mask (it may look dorky, but I'm sure it will be worth it).
Both the Ocean and the mask can be bought at CVS or any pharmacy. Good luck. I'll let you know if it works for me!

Well I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one!!!!
What abotu sinofresh while flying. I just discovered it and it's an antiseptic. The mask probably helps a lot.

Let's you and me make the mask popular on airplanes so my husband won't make fun of me (of course he fully supports me though)! ;)
hey, you can get a $3.00 coupon on sinofresh.com that expires on 02/12/2005
Good luck!
