Hi, Just got of the phone with my sister in law. My brother has not eaten in 3 days. His esphygus (spelling) cancer is back and growing so this is why he can't eat. They have taken him off of all meds except the morphine and pain patches (they give him 3 every two days). Again, he is at end of death, they can't operate as they feel he will go into shock. I asked my sister in law if the pills came in liquid but she said they decided just to take him off all meds together. When he does come around he talks about suicide and he wants it to be over. The nurse told her she will be on call 24/7 and he should have someone with him at all times. Thanks in advance for any insight. Judie

Hi,
The 24/7 part just means that there is a nurse available around the clock if your sister-in-law or brother need her for anything. The nurse wants someone to stay with your brother all of the time to make sure he does not do anything to hurt himself; since you mention his thought about suicide. It sounds like a difficult situation, my heart goes out to you and your family.

Michelle
