i have a sore chest everytime i cough ! ive only had it for a day and not been coughing much but everytime i do it really hurts.

any ideas?

oops sorry forgot to add, just checked then, im coughing up dark green mucus too!

You definitely have a chest infection....it could be upper airways considering the symptoms you've mentioned in your other post about the pain in your throat.

I had (what sounds to be) the same type of problem/cold/virus this past fall....and it lasted 2 months. My asthma was the worst it had ever been, and scared the carp out of me. I had to change meds for a while.

Definitely go see your doc and hopefully he/she will put you on something that will help with the infection.

If you're averse to seeing the doc, consider purchasing the product called Musinex. It's guafenesine....an expectorant, and it will help to expell it.

Increase your fluids, don't take antihistamines because they will only dry you out too much. If you are having problems breathing see if Sudafed will fit the bill for you.

Steam yourself (bowl with boiled water and towel over your head).
Drink hot tea...that really helps ease and loosen that stuff.

If you are coughing tooo much and need to rest take DM, although not all the time. Another option is.......yes, I'll suggest it......BUCKLEY'S!!! aaaaaaarrrrrrgh...I took it once, but you know, it did help ease that throat feeling for the night. Bleh!
