Hi everyone, hope someone can help me with this. I have the hpv virus, paps came back negative, had the genitial warts, got those removed. Ok to my question....if the warts are removed, are the chances high of passing it onto your partner if a condom is used? What about recieving oral sex with the warts removed? I heard that the chances are low when their are no break outs?? Also, when I had my warts removed, they used acid, which hurt like hell by the way, but why didnt they tell me that that would leave scars on me down there? DO you know how embarassed I am to get naked in front of a guy now? Ok any info would help. I was also told by my doc a while back that the virus would eventually leave my body and i'll be rid of it forever...... thanks all

Once you have HPV, you have it for life as there is no cure available at the moment. It can lie dormant in your body without causing you any problems, however, it will always be there.

Hi Br0wnie, we have met before but I'm not sure if you remember me!

:nono: Your doctor didn't give you very much background info. Of coarse, talking to alot of other girls here, they didn't give any of them very much info and make it seem ok after a proceedure is done to go have regular unprotected or protected sex again. Many questions can be answered by asking your doctor but then again, many you have to learn from those who are living through it as well. So it is good you are here asking questions. You have cervical HPV so it is in best interest to use protection during intercoarse even after the abnormalties have been removed. HPV is never gone from the body. It is a virus, and like herpes, can not be cured. It will lay dormant in the body and you can have a reoccurance. My advice is to keep using protection and have a few more paps (you should have to go every 4-6 months) and if your paps remain normal then they can again if you choose to have unprotected sex. There are cases of hpv being transmitted orally, although vary rare it does occure. HPV can be transmitted even if nothing is visible. That is why I say to wait for a few more paps before being unprotected. I don't know why they didn't tell you about scaring...they should have told you about the side effects but from now on....ask if there are any risks! If you have any questions....just ask!

Thank you Beez you are very nice to reply. I hear differnt things from everyone and I never know which ones to believe, cus the doctors act like its no big deal since more than half the population are already infected with it. My friend who is an Army Medic says not to let a guy perform oral sex on me and that it is easily spread, she has the hpv too along with the warts underneath her tounge. Then I read on the internet that the hpv virus will leave the body in a few years, my doctor even said that!! So you know.....I dont know....lol Arent I susposed to be talking daily vitamins for this?

Also I forgot to add this in..... How long does it take after having sex could the warts appear? I believe for me it took about 1 year, but is a year the longest and what is the shortest? A day? Thank you

There are alot of rumors that are spread from things people know nothing about. I've been doing alot of research lately on HPV. So, I guess I am adaquately educated about it. HPV can remain dormant after sex for a lifetime. Then again it can appear a couple of months later. I will be posting information that I find on my post HPV & Guilt that is new and updated. You might want to go there and read some of them. I've found info on a new vaccine for HPV and plenty others. As for the girl who has HPV undr her tounge, there is a HPV that is oral but they do not know yet if it is connected with genital HPV. Again, if there are any more questions, just ask!!
