For the past 2 days, I've been experiencing a new type of outbreak. I"m having flu-like symptons and can see a blister. And I'm exhaused. In the past, I've only had tingles/twitches, but now I think I'm having a "full-blown" outbreak. I've been using tea tree oil & aloe vera gel on the blister. It seems to be soothing, but only for a short amount of time. Anyway, my question is how long, can I expect these new symptons to last and any other relief - suggestions?. I'm at my wits end. And yes, I do know - that everyone is different, sympton-wise. But, right now unfortunately, I can't see any light at the end of my tunnel. Please share your thoughts, asap.
This sucks..... -Shinyornament

Do you have any Valtrex to take?
Try some cold meds like advil cold for flu symptoms and witch hazel for sores to dry out.
It should last a day or two.
You havent had these symptoms before?

Thanks for your response. I start to take 1000mg of Valtrex - 1 week before my period and I just started taking it again - on Monday. I'm thinking of taking 2000mg, per day, but can't decide if it's a good idea. I'll go tonight and get witchhazel. What I thought were ob's before were very mild, tingles, itchs and sensations, without anything that I could actually see. But, now I feel like I have the flu, and can see an actual blister/bump. And I'm flipping out. It hurts to sit, pee and feel like a burn down below and it's driving me crazy. Do you really think it will only last a day or two? I hope so....don't know how much more of this I can stand.....Can't seem to find any relief!
Thanks for your thoughts, -ShinyOrn

hey, orn--don't forget to try the garlic oil. I know the smell bothers you some, but it might help. I'm sorry this is happening.
My bad ob's usually feel irritable near the site for a day, then hurt a lot for 2-3 days after the sores/blisters appear and open, then begin to subside--I'm still sore, but feel better--for another 2-3 days. Then I feel okay, but have a red spot for another couple of days. I wait 2 more days after it all disappears before having sex.
I also feel really tired and lethargic before a big ob.
Hope you are better soon!

Be careful over medicating. I think 1000mg is the highest dose and you dont want any overdose symptoms. Unfortunately your body needs to work through this and the meds just help to move that process along. Like a cold you can treat the symptoms but not the virus.
Take care and hang in there. I havent tried the garlic oil but plan to gove it ago with the next ob, thanks.

Thanks B.P. and Karenscorner ~
I looked this am and the bump/blister went down remarkably. I think the tea tree oil, made it subside. I did take 2000mg of Valtrex yesterday only, because I was desperate. But, these flu-like symptons are on/off again, just about every other day. And now the thigh muscle pain/tension is starting, guess it's all part of this vicious cycle. Maybe, this is a severe ob, than what I had in the past. Probably, why I'm losing it.....But, I always feel better, when you-all respond. I don't feel so doomed. I just don't get it, supplement-wise, I take various kinds daily and I really don't know - what helps and what doesn't. Now, this severe ob, makes me think - nothing is working. How do I figure out, what is helping???? Feeling better-ShinyOrn

I often feel like that, orn. Like nothing really works. But for me, I realize the ob's always come after I've been really tired and stressed, and that's when nothing will work for me.

You're probably right...I'm looking for a solution and there probably isn't one....Go figure! This h-virus is so frustrating....I'm almost afraid to be intimate for fear, it just starts all over again, sometimes it seems like it's just not worth it....Hmmm, maybe I'll move to a monastary and become a nun....Seems like this is a vicious cycle.....It's got to change soon, only because it's driving me crazy.....But, not anymore than I already was......Trying to keep - my humor......-ShinyOrn

Hi Orn, so sorry to hear you're having a bad ob. Have you ever tried the dsmo, this stuff has helped me a lot and when I used it according to the book Never an Outbreak I have been outbreak free, I have type 1 genital - but this Dsmo stopped the pain, and if you apply it once a month for 3 days on your area you have ob's it penetrates into where the virus hides. you can find the book, and the cream comes with it in the whole pkg deal . Good luck and I hope you feel better

Hey, we could all become nuns and live very orderly, stress-free lives together in the same convent, with lots of supplies of tea tree oil, garlic (and no one would care how we smell, huh?), ooo, aloe spray, etc. Great idea! Only...there's all that praying...and I'm not religious, not to mention not Catholic...could we start our own religion? And what would that be called?

Hi Orn, I use the dmso which is a rose scented cream, it came with the book. The cream doesn't smell that great, but it does relieve the pain, and also reduces the ob. It kill the virus pretty well. The book never an outbreak gives you ideas on what herbs to take, garlic, cats claw llysine coq10. If you go on line you will find it . Also if you use this cream for 6 months on the ob area and do it for 3 days each month the author states he has had great success from people in reducing and eliminating the obs. It is not very expensive maybe 65.00 for the book, dmso, and a bottle of liquid oxygen. I would recommend giving it a try as type 2 has more obs than type 1 genitally. I also use hydrogen peroxide the type you can buy in any drugstore . I use this sometimes if I feel I may be getting an ob and I think the peroxide kills the virus too. This virus is nasty esp. for the type 2 . I am going thru menopause and just came down with this - great 50th birthday present. I am now better mentally than I was before because now I don't get any obs. If I do feel that tingle coming I just apply the dmso and nothing comes out !! I hope you try it - let me know if you do. Take care and hang in there .

is it true that you also rub it on your tail bone as well, were the outbreak starts from? how bad does it smell, and can you use it on your face?

Hi yes you do put it on your tailbone if it is an ob in the genital area as well as on the genital area, if it is an ob on the mouth , coldsore area you put the cream on the base area on the back of the neck. the book tells you that you can put the cream on your face. I don't like the smell it has a garlic like odor to it even though it is called a rose scented cream. I used a strong perfume if I wore it around other people. However this stuff does work so give it a try its worth putting up with the smell. I tried to use it when I knew I was at home and not at meetings at work sitting close to people.

Well, I didn't know the answer to your question, so I just used a search engine on it. I got Dimethyl sulfoxide - used to treat pain.

Purchase the rose-scented cream, I imagine the non-scented must be awful. Still, using my cream from 2 yrs ago, but not very often. -Orn
