View Full Version : Question about Colonoscopy

I am booked in to have a colonoscopy tomorrow, I have to start the prep this afternoon with 3 tablets and a cup of this mixture, then 2 hours later 1 litre of some other mixture then tomorrow morning 2 more litres of the same mixture, what I was wondering is do you have to drink the entire mixture or just until your bowel movements are a yellow colour, also do you stop going to the toilet way before the procedure, I have a 1/2 hour drive to the hospital and don't want to need to go to the toilet on the way.

In my experience with the colonoscopy prep, my doctor said that I just had to drink the stuff until what was coming out of me was clear.

Also, I was still going on the morning of my colonoscopy, but it was really no big deal. It wasn't that "urgent, have to go right now" feeling like the night before. It was just a "hmm I think I might still have some more liquid in their" kind of feeling. During the colonoscopy, the doctor will suction out any remaining liquid in your colon.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Hiya jessy,

You'll be ok, try not to worry about the prep. If you go to IBS forum on here, you will see a post re: colonoscopies posted by Jack. All the info there might be of use to you.

Hope you keep well.
