After reading another post here is made me wonder if I could possible have a systematic yeast infection. Can you get yeast infection from a girl? What would the symptoms be like? I had unprotected sex with a girl this summer who had somewhat of a fishy odor to her...but I thought that was not unusual in some girls. Any help?

Yes you can get yeast from a woman. I'm not sure how they detect this in a man. It's worth a call to your pharmacist to ask. Good luck. If you do not treat this you can spread it to another partner. It's not hard to get rid of.

Actually, men can get yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. They do not really notice the symptoms but if there are any, there will be some discharge. As per my physician, BV is associated w/ a fishy odor as yeast infections are not. A STD w/ similar symptoms to BV and a yeast infection is call Trichomoniasis. That too has a fishy smell. BV and Trich require the same medicine which is metro-gel. It's definitely worth a trip to the doctor b/c your next partner could end up suffering like I did!

like ladylove said. bacterial vaginosis can be given to a man. and if your g/f is being treated then goes on to have sex w/you once she's treated it will return until you are treated as well.

There is a pill they can give you. It's suppose to eliminate the yeast out of your system if it's a yeast infection! Otherwise i dont know how they treat a man for it. Since the metro-gel is inserted into the womans vagina! Good luck pal!
