Hello everyone,
I currently have an anal fissure and am wondering if anyone has experienced this symptom either with a fissure or without one. After a bm, I clean up to the point where I know have cleaned everything (sometimes I'll even take a bath just to make sure) and then about an hour after a bm, I get some residue on my underwear...granted I wear thongs, but I would think this shouldn't happen no matter what kind of underwear one wears. Does anyone else have this...where they clean up all the way and have to wipe again shortly after?

yeah..i have the EXACT same problem!1 do you sometimes have blood as well?

If the blood is during or immediately after a bm, it's REALLY dark red. When it's a few hours after a bm, it's more like a light pink. Sometimes I'll feel fine all day and then it will bleed like that out of nowhere. Do you get sharp, stabbing pains also?

yeah..i get exactly the same thing,dark during a bm & a light red during leakage..the doc said to me it was an int.hemmorhoid but im starting to think its a fissure as there is sometimes a razor sharp feeling during a bm..the best thing ive found that prevents leaking is to not walk about for at least an hour after having a bm because it ALWAYS leaks when im out & i have to detour to a restaraunt or something just to wipe! lol! just make sure you pay close attention to what ur body tells u..if u get the urge to wipe! do so! because ive noticed it only gets bloody when i leave it for a while..anyway,hope ive added a little insight for you! take care!

Oh my goodness...I was so embarrassed to ask that question. I became a member because I wanted to know the answer to that same question. However, i never have blood...maybe every blue moon. I don't know what that could be...however, its the most irritating thing. I have a BM and i wipe now to the point where I literally dig up my anus to make sure its all out. An hour or so later when I go to pee, I have the habit of wiping both the front and the rear, and when I do, its like I have this residue like I never wiped. Its always there like my bowels doesn't completely empty itself. I don't what it could be. Now every nite before I go to bed even if I've had a shower, I have to get soap and water and wipe my rear because I don't want to go through the embarrassment of being in an intimate situation with my hubby and its there. Someone please help. What do you suggest? Should I try using an enima once a week or something? I hate this...

I know exactly what you mean about the intimate situations....it's horrible to end up in one and just be thinking to yourself "please don't let anything be there!" I have some scar tissue down there and had convinced myself that maybe some bm was getting caught in there even though I wipe and like you "dig" up there to make sure I'm totally clean. There were nights though, that I had taken one, sometimes two showers during the day and I would be wearing a thong and there would be some residue there. I hadn't thought of trying enemas...maybe if you know you're going to be in an intimate situation later in the day, that would be a good idea...they tend to make me cramp up though, so I'm trying to think of something that would be easy to do every day because it's so frustrating.
Have you been diagnosed with a fissure or hemorrhoids or anything like that? I'm hoping that maybe it has something to do with having a fissure, but this has been happening to me for almost a year (I'm only 22, so I know it's not old age!)
I wonder if instead of an emena, we could take a syringe or little bulb full of water and just squirt it up there. That might be helpful.

I have exactly the same thing and I'm only 22 as well- it really disgusting and depressing. I don't let myself get in intimate situations because of it. My doc first thought the leakage was gastritis - so I went on the diet for that and off and on the leakage still happens-now that it is occurring more frequently he puts it down to IBS.
It sucks because sometimes I eat foods that I can handle and then other times I eat the same food and I get a sick stomach. Then I get leakage. I also have celiac disease and gastritis that were diagnosed by biopsy and the foods I react to are definately ones that are gluten and wheat free and appropriate for gastritis. I hate it- I think I will need to go to a gastroenterologist. I can't take anymore of this!
