Yes, your symptoms sound very similar to mine except that I don't have nausea. I notice my symptoms get worse when I'm stressed. My doctor told me I had IBS as well. I was concerned that it was something more serious (I still get concerned because that's just my nature).

I had an abdominal ultrasound, blood tests, check of Pylori (sp) virus, and a physical exam by my doctor. All results were normal. When I went on Lexapro (an RX for anxiety) my symptoms improved.

Thank you both for your responses.
I agree stress can irritate IBS as well as probably many illnesses.

I did not realize that IBS was so common until I came to this board.
It seems like IBS covers a wide range of symptoms.
Upon reading many postings on this board I see that most people are either IBS-C or IBS - D.

My Doctor must believe I am IBS -C because he prescribed Levison even though I tend to have 1 bowel movement every day.
I thought that was normal.
I believe he feels the sore/pressure spot below sternum and the gas symptom
is caused by a lack of movement in the bowels.
