countrygal 01-16-2005, 12:55 PM Does anyone else have groin pain related to fms? I have been told that it was from herniated disc by the nuro surg. Do to IC from the urologist. And from ankylosing and IBD spondylitis by the rhuemy. I guess it doesnt matter where it is coming from, I just wish it would go away or ease up. Just wondering if anyone else is or has experienced this. :bouncing:
tutti-fruti 01-17-2005, 01:31 AM you have ankylosing spondilitis ???

Marie55 01-17-2005, 05:48 PM I have groin (inner crease where leg attaches to body) prickly pains off and on. Give it time and it will stop but come back again at times.
apriltones 01-17-2005, 05:53 PM hi marie, have you been diagnosed with fibro too? x
countrygal 01-17-2005, 10:38 PM yes tutti-fruti i was dxd in July. I am still trying to get it all figured out. Do you have it too?
Thanks for the reply marie and april. I really have a hard time if i turn my leg and knee in or outwards. Sometimes i think i will just not move...LOL
DecLady 01-18-2005, 09:11 AM I have been dx'd for over two years now..and that "groin" pain is my most recent one! Always something new and fun to deal with it seems...I am finding if I stand in one place for any length of time, or on my feet for too long, not only am I getting pain in my lower back..but in the creases of my leg/hip joint..and sometimes just all across my "bottom" area as well. Since it comes and goes..I am at this point going to assume it is a fibro related pain. But, I reserve my judgement on all these things nowadays....because I wouldn't want to self diagnose fibro when it is in fact something else! However, now that someone else is saying the same things...fibro is probably the reason for it. Hope you feel better soon!
apriltones 01-18-2005, 04:48 PM hi there. i am on my period at moment. hope not too much info. and my lower back is killing!!!!! do you get it then? cheers, april
DecLady 01-18-2005, 05:08 PM Periods are no longer an issue for me. I had EVERYTHING out when I was 40. I sometimes wonder if that is what kicked up the fibro symptoms for me. I am not 100% sure, but I didn't have them before...and they gradually came on afterward. But, I would think that menstruation would kick up some pain , just the fact that you are having uterine contractions could be an irritant.
countrygal 01-18-2005, 07:20 PM Thanks to all the replies. I will talk to the rhuemy in Feb and see what they think. I would really like to know. The Urologist has been doing and wanting to continue the bladder washes and meds. But i dont think they have helped much other than the bladder pain. I asked the QUESTION " how do i know which Dx is causing this problem" and i was told that all most all complications in some way or another coinsides with medical Dxs that i have. And if all are treated then maybe i wont keep adding on all the different pains and aches that makes me have to ask which one does this go too. Good luck to all and pain free days. And it is nice to know i am not alone!
Marie55 01-18-2005, 09:32 PM Yes, I have had fibro for over 50 years but only diagnosed 21 years ago. It gets worse the older I get. Before diagnosis it was considered to be all in my head, in other words I was imagining my misery!!LOL!! Got the typical brush off by doctors.
Something that may be of interest to many of you, I discovered that taking vitamins makes fibro worse for me. I took vitamins for many, many years and recently stopped after reading about too much vitamin A. Was off all supplements for 3 months, decided to try a multi-vitamin again with no more than 5,000 IU vitamin A. In 5 days I started hurting worse. Stopped vitamins and in 3 days could tell a difference for the better. Asked the doctor why I felt better without supplements and he could not answer the question, he did not know. I suspect vitamin A is the culprit. My diet contains lots of vitamin A in the food, so, vitamin A in supplement is probably too much for me.
Until the medical profession learn what to do for us, I just live one day at a time and take no meds for it. Don't want the side effects and still hurt.
tutti-fruti 01-19-2005, 01:47 AM countrygal, please log into a site called spondylitis association of america and try their message boards. It is the greatest ever and you will find a lot of answers to your problems there because having AS is probably the reason for all your troubles and not FMS. Please try and let me know. There was a point when I was misdiagnosed by a rheumatolgist for having undifferentiated spondyloarthropathy and whilst searching the net I came accross the above site which I've been visiting every now and then. You will definitely find great people there who are very knowledgeable and who will immediately attend to your questions/doubts/fears etc. AS can be a serious illness, nothing compared to FMS which is a real joke next to it. Good luck.
noinwi 01-19-2005, 04:55 PM I have groin pain too. Also in the hip/leg crease. And deep in the hip joint. I have difficulty going up stairs and crossing my legs. I have to help my leg up and over with my hand. Very painful getting in and out of the car. I feel like there's a person holding each ankle, trying to twist my legs out of the sockets. The tissue on my lower abdomen near "the crease" is aways tender and painful.
countrygal 01-20-2005, 04:33 PM tutti-fruti i have been there and did return last night. I did alot of reading. But did not join in as of yet.
noinwi i also have problems getting in and out of my pickup. I did put steps on and it does help some. There has been times that i thought i would just sit in it to not have to move my legs and hips.
Last night was a long painful night, i hurt so bad and pain meds didnt seem to help. Not only the groin, butt, down inside of leg to the knee and back of leg hurt but the r side of my back along the spine area was giving me fits also. I havent had that bad of night in a while now. And i hope it goes away again. Lack of rest and sleep makes everything start to go into rages.
factseeker 02-24-2005, 10:59 PM I have had groin pain. Fibromites have pelvic muscle weakness and pain. The pain might be levator ani or piriformis muslces giving you a hard time. I had physical therapy which helped a lot. I go to a uro gynecologist. Also helps with urinary problems.
