I have tried doing smokey eyes- i even have the right eye liner with the spongy-thing to make them smokey but i just dont get how to do it! help pleaze

Hi there! so how exactly are you trying to do your smokey eyes? i know when i read about certain ways and i try to do it.. it comes out kinda bad looking.. like messy/smeared! i do mine different.. i wear black eyeliner all the time so i dont want anything TOO light.. i prefer doing my eyeliner.. then putting eye shadow OVER it (darker color) or sometimes just the outer half up to the crease.. then i go over with my eyeliner again so it shows up. whenever i smudge it, it looks bad on me for some reason! i like my makeup to look very neat!

Makeup techniques take practice. It wouldn't hurt to invest in a good book by a professional makeup artist. I have one titled 'Making Faces' and I love it. So many great tips, techniques, and photos! You should also check out Makeup411.com. They've got lists of products and techniques that MA's use on celebrities in movies, tv shows, music videos, etc. :)

thanks so much!!! i asked my mom and she surprised me by buying me a makeup book, and to bootyl.. you put the eye shadow on the top right- thanks so much for all your help- i tried what you suggested and it worked!! but i have to wear it not as dark cause it makes me look weird with all preppy shirts! THANKS AGAIN

HAHA yay! yeah i have some almost black shimmery eyeshadow that i do this with.. but i save it for going out! a lighter color is definitely better to go with preppy shirts :) im glad you figured it all out though!

Creating That Smoky Eye
The crease is very important to the smokey eye and it needs special attention. With a taupe colored shadow, or a mixture of gray and brown, pick up a small amount (to begin), and work it into the crease area. Continue until the area is well defined, with lots of attention to the blending process. Remember, the look we are after is smokey.
Using the same color, sweep it around the corner and beneath the lashes to bring attention to this part of the eye. Taper off as you move closer to the inside corner of the eye.
Liner is next and you will want to smudge it deeply into the lashes. Placement of the liner depends on your eyeshape, but you can try completely surrounding your eyes with liner. If you find that suddenly you seem to have tiny eyes, pull back from completely encircling the area. The outer corners of top and bottom might be all you need.
With your f mascara, coat lashes so that they play up the darkness of the eye area. Several coats might be necessary.

yes i agree.. i have to put several coats of mascara or my lashes won't show up as much when having a smokey eye!! i have heard people say that lining your bottom inner rims closes up the eye.. but is it weird that when i do that my eyes look bigger than when no bottom eyeliner? haha.. oh well.. if it works for me then i guess its all good!
