Could someone please tell me the symptoms of the syndrome. I am having a bit of trouble with sudden onset loose bowels and wondered if that is part of it. Thank you for any input.

Irritable bowel syndrom is characterized by over-stimulation and understimulation of the sympathetic involuntary nervous system and nerve endings that connect to and cause your bowels to function. Sometimes this is caused by food allergies, yeast invasion, and sometimes it can be caused by a glitch in your electrical system, (spinal involvment) The symptoms are indeed alternating diarrhea(painful bowel spasm) gas with more than obnoxious odors, and then just as you think this is gonna get you, then you become constipated and become nauseated some times, and sometimes run a fever and think you have a virus. The thing is that if you observe this action for a while you will find that it can run in cycles if you are female that seem to be influenced by hormones. If you are male, there is still a cyclic component to it. Of course emotional stress makes the symptoms worse and you can lose a lot of weight if you are some one who has problems with eating in the first place. However, a lot of us sufferers do not lose weight at all and still are miserable.
