View Full Version : Can You Describe Your First Outbreak?

Hello,

I'm curious to know the details of your first genital herpes outbreak. What appeared first? What bodily (flu-like?) symptoms did you experience? What did the legions look like before they actually became legions? Was there any discharge? Other irritation? Red spots?

I'm obviously curious to know if I have herpes in store for me. I had unprotected sex (for about 25 seconds) last night and unprotected oral sex, and now have small red spots exclusively on my penis head. I also have mild discharge and a bit of tingling.

Thank you very much.

Oh, are we allowed to post pictures of genitalia? Because I could post pictures of my penis head to see if it looks like herpes.

It can be awful wondering if you have a particular std after unprotected sex. It could be anything really and it could be nothing at all. You need to see a doctor. People on these boards can offer all sorts of advice, but they can't guarantee whether you have herpes or not. Your gp or a sexual health clinic would be the best place to go. You should also go as soon as possible b/c if they have to swab a sore, then the earlier it's done the better.

Now i'm female, so describing my first outbreak wouldn't be of any use to you, considering you are male, but i'm sure some of the guys will help you out regarding their first ob. I don't know whether you can post pics on here, but i highly doubt it. You maybe have to contact the moderators on that one.

Best of luck and please see a doctor as you will want to organise a blood test to verify if you have caught any other forms of std's.

I've already called my doctor to make an appointment, but since that might not happen for 2 days, I was hoping to get some input in the mean time.

I'm not sure if this is related, and it could be anxiety, but I have no appetite and feel tremendously fatigued. What's confusing to me is that my exposure was under 24 hours ago (approximately 19 hours), so all of this seems too sudden.

Thank you for your support. :)

Im a female, but I had symptoms about 12 hours after exposure. So I dont think it has to take the time, I think it is up to so many days for signs to show but in some people they dont, so dont go by time. Im glad you made an appointment with your dr. Smart move.

What were your symptoms? I'm curious to know the specifics, especially if the ones that appeared before the sores did.

do a search on google or yahoo for images of herpes. You will find plenty of pictures of penis' with the sores and spots. That would help to compare!

I do feel really tired the day before an ob. I also get a weird feeling in my leg/groin...a kind of ache or strange sensitivity on the surface of the skin, like maybe the skin is new or something. I think it is a sign of the virus moving along the nervous system. My primary, I then had swelling, redness, and extreme itching, and then the very sore little clusters of bumps, which became open sores.

Hey Worried~
I have heard with herpes that it burns to the point of crying when you urinate (one of the symptoms). Also I would like to tell you if you haven't already went to the doctor by now is that taking a blood test to dectect herpes isn't accurate because if you have ever had a cold sore in your life then it will show up as the herpes virus on a blood test. The only way you can get them tested is when you think you have an out break so they can swab the area like the other people on here have said. I am going to go get tested on Wednesday and I am terrified but it's definatally better to know rather then to spread it. Hope this somewhat helps. Best of luck to you :jester:

Why wouldn't the blood test help? If it's type specific and it shows up with antibodies against HSV 2, then there you go, you've got an answer. But yes, I can see how the test wouldn't be of much use if you contracted HSV1 (either genitally or orally), since nearly everybody's blood test will show antibodies against that.

hi worried,
my first outbreak was what I thought to be just an ingrown hair or two. It appeared soon after i shaved. I noticed that at the base of my penis there was what looked like the beginnings of an ingrown hair. A day later it multiplied to "three" red dots that had clear pus heads. I also felt a burning and itching sensation. I popped the heads HOPING that I would see hairs, but there was none. I went to the doc and as soon as they say the spots they were 90% sure it was herpes. They took a "Couture" (?) and a few days later confirmed I had gotten herpes. Like the others I suggest you see a doc, good luck!

Okay, I just typed all that and lost the post.

Let me try this again. My first symptom was itching, then burning while urination later followed by burning during cleansing. There was a scabbish looking bump in one area, that was ***** and very sensitive to friction.

Set up the appointment. A culture, blood and urinal test was administered. H was suspect but other STDs wanted to be ruled out, along with pregnancy. I am unsure which types of test where used; it was never discussed.

It was H and she put me on a 800-1200 mg dosage of Acyclovair during OBs and a suggested maintenance amount. I was given a packet to mix a solution to poor over the OB is cleanse and alleviate pain.

SEE A DOCTOR!

Hi there ~

This may or may not help.... but in my case it was horrible. I mean, the worst case scenario. I had drunken protected sex one night with a frat guy. Big mistake. Horrible sex - no lubrication (no lube = rough, painful sex)... I wobbled home that night...the next morning I woke up puking. I couldn't keep anything down - and that wasn't like me. I never puked the day after drinking. And on top of it I thought I had a bladder infection because it hurt so bad to pee. And on top of THAT I was swollen really bad on the lower half of my vaginal entrance (near the butt), so I couldn't even walk. It was HORRIBLE. I just remember rocking back and forth in the bathroom (I was living in the dorms) and crawling to the toilette every 2 minutes.

I went to a nurse practioner 2 days later and she diagnosed me without having even examined me. So I went to my OB/GYN and they did more cultures and tests and told me the obvious truth. I started taking medication for a bladder infection, too (just in case)...but it was probably just the urine flowing over the dry, cracked, swollen skin... But who knows...

So I guess for me it happened the very next day, and the rough sex just played a small roll in making the initial outbreak that much worse... :(

Hi!
I am also a chick, but here goes anyway:
my boyfriend went down on me and my clit was really irritated. A day or two later, I thought I might have a bladder infection because it burned when i went pee. To the doctor I went and was misdiagnosed. Because I went untreated for over a week, my first ob lasted almost 2 weeks. Symptoms started with an inflamed clitoris, pain when urinating, hard bumps forming under labial skin and then finally visible soars. Also, I felt really under the weather (depressed and having my immune system kicked in the balls) I spent the last week really high on pain killers, so it wasn't sooo bad!! good luck, hope this helps
