a severe problem for most anxiety sufferers is our lack of status within the medical profession, mostly they look down on us and think poorly of us

many dismiss us as hypochondriacs or neurotic and give us a fast prescription to get rid of us as soon as possible

some seem to feel that its beneath eheir dignity to spend much time with us, they judge us harshly

a good doctor or health professional can help a lot with explanations and reassurance

in australia where I am, the highest number of people receiving government pensions are anxiety sufferers, they are simply too anxious to work

lots of government money would be saved if more effort was made by health professionals to help anxiety sufferers

Yes, I agree 100%. I felt like my primary doctor, besides not knowing much about antidepressants (I expected him to be more knowledgeable than he was), thought my case was not important enough for him to deal with. I definitely got the feeling that I was being treated like I was neurotic or needed attention.

I go to a psychiatrist for medication now and I plan to switch from my primary to a fantastic nurse-practioner for most of my future medical care - she was very understanding and supportive of my taking care of my anxiety.
