Hi, I have been doing some research online about social anxiety or social phobia. I think that I have social anxiety. I also think that it has caused me to feel down and angry. Now, how does a person get help or treat this? How does one know that they have this and what natural ways can it be helped?

Hi Annie
if you are feeling like you need help, then you should see a doctor, he or she should discuss options best suited to you.whether it be therapy, meds, books, tapes etc.its an individual thing of what works best for you.

hey, dont worry i also have the same feeling, sometimes i feel very angry and irritated and down, it has calm down because i been doing alot of mediation. try doing it, just close ur eyes and breath deeply and dont think about anything, trying doing for a couple of minutes everyday or more. good luck, theres also this audio technogoly thats awsome, it cost money, its from centerpointe , thats all i can say, good luck by.

Thank you for your replies. I have tried meditating before, it calms me down a lot but not enough to relax me for social situations, maybe doing it for longer periods of time will help.

There is a book by Andrew Weil that has a vitamin combo for depression/anxiety. I plan on trying it, but it has worked for a lot of people. It supposedly works off of amino acid (which is a natural thing your body needs) and levels out chemistry and helps all the endorphins and hormones flow properly. Maybe this will help if you don't want medicine.

Meds that you take only when you feel like you need to be calm, in low doses, are also helpful.

i know exactly how you feel with the whole social anxiety thing, i get it all the time, i get all flushed, total loss of words, sometimes forget who the hell you are at the moment......i heard that vitamin b-12, the stuff you drop under your toungue, the Sublingual B-12, works pretty well at stabillizing how you feel, i been interested in it for a long time, and i think im ready just to try it out.
