I never even had any symptoms! I went in for a pap and my doctor called me back about a week later and told me I had bacterial vaginosis. Is that even normal? Anyway, I'm on Metrogel right now(5 days). Has anyone else used this before? And what's this I've heard about people going crazy if you drink alcohol while taking this med? I read on the label where it said "do not drink while taking this, blah blah blah", but I didn't know that it could cause psychosis! No wine with my dinner this weekend! ;)

It's quite common for BV to occur without symptoms. Be thankful you don't have the awful symptoms. I've used Metrogel and you're supposed to refrain from alcohol b/c it can make you naseous and may cause vomiting. Although I've heard that this happens moreso with Flagyl, which is systemic, as opposed to Metrogel, which is local. I've never heard of the crazy side effect though...lol.

I used MetroGel for 5 days, too, and it cleared up my symptoms within the first two doses. And the BV did not come back, so I was happy with it. Good luck!
