i posted this in the general forum but thought id copy it here-

hi, I'm a 16 yr old male (obviously) and for as long as I can remember (or for as long as I've paid much attention to my genitals) one of my testicles has seemed much larger than the other. it doesn't look larger from the outside but when feeling them it does feel a lot larger.

I've never thought much about it, and I've been in for sports physicals and it's never been noticed (never been examined though). There aren't any lumps on either of them and they feel pretty smooth, and I've read that its normal to have different sized testicles, but im not sure to what extent that means.

also i know im probably too young for cancer and its highly doubtful that this is abnormal, but ive just been wondering lately...any replies would be helpful

Okay, well, it is very normal for one testicle to be larger than the other, and it is also very normal for one testicle to be lower than the other. But there's one thing that you should realize, though it is very unlikely that it is cancer, in this case you can't say that you are "too young" for cancer. The largest age group for testicular cancer is between 15-35.

Now, the one thing with testicular problems which is characteristic is that it causes a LOT of anxiety if they're worried about it. If you are worried about it, I would say, to rest your mind, go to your GP and mention this to him/her. A physical exam can be done with a testicular examination just to make sure. I would do this if you are worried, because there's nothing worse than being worried about something like this. However, just so you know, what you describe as one testicle being larger than the other, is a normal thing and it's present in many guys.
