Hello. I am actually posting on behalf of a friend. She has an 11 year old son who has Crohn's disease. He had a large part of his large and small intestine removed due to another condition called Meckels diverticulum. To treat his Crohn's, dr's have tried steroids, Pentasa, Antibiotics, Imuran and as a last resort, Remicade. After taking him to the DR yesterday, it appears that nothing they have tried will keep him in remission. It also appears that there is some damage to his pancreas. HELP...does anyone know of any additional treatment that may help or any trials that allow kids? They are running out of options and could desperately use some suggestions. PLEASE RESPOND!!!

Okay, I've reread the posting rules and don't think this is a no no. If it is moderator please delete the problem parts.

I'm sorry to hear about the terrible time your friend is having. I have two book suggestions. One is The first year: Crohns' & Colitis by Jill Skalar. This book, though your friend has been battling this more than a year, has good practical advise. The second one is Eating for IBS by Heather Van Vorus. The diet she outlines in the book has helped many Crohn's patients including a friend of mine. You should be able to get both on line. I hope this helps.

Love,

Jamie
