I have a small lump right below my earlobe next to my jaw. Its tiny, but it feels almost like a pimple beneath the skin, hard, and its been there for like a week since I've noticed it. My mom says swollen gland, but she would say that if I came home impaled by a phone pole. What is located in that region? Could it be cancer? Where can I get it checked? Thanks

I don't know how old you are, but I'm guessing that you're a teenager.

It could very well be a pimple underneath the skin. Can you see it in the mirror? Does it move around with the skin when you touch it, or is it fixed? Is it painful if you squeeze it a little bit? There is a gland in that area too (there are actually TONS of lymph glands in the head and neck region), but usually lymph glands are softer.

Go to the family doctor, (s)he can check it out if you're worried. Assuming I'm right with your age, it's probably just a pimple. Head and neck cancers are not common in your age group.

I'm with you about the paranoid part. You should've seen me when I was studying all of these different diseases when I was in med school....I was also very paranoid for the first few weeks.

Anyway, do you still have acne on your face? Even if you dno't, would you mind answering some of the questions from my previous post? Thanks
